Classic Japanese Sports Car Enthusiests club this is a good one i like it when you said it on 1200.com i thought it was allready taken and you ment some thing like it ,

but yea im keen on keeping it as small as possable as i run my own business and have a lil baby boy between them i dont have much spare time , if your real keen on a big club go for it ( this is not to be takein the wrong way i mean it in a nice way ) as i may have enough close friends and family to make up the 20 memembers im offering this to a few datsun guys as i know a few of yous have a datsun that arent realy beening used but your haveing to pay $400+ a year or there unliced and neva get to go out :( like my ute sits in the shed 99% of the year and my 120y sits out the back yard most of the time , both are on full rego .

i should mention post vintage rego is for day use only no night drives

How about : Classic Japanese Sports & Performance Enthusiasts Car Club

Which could be abbreviated to: Classic J-SPEC Club.

Problem is Hillmans aren't Japanese.

Maybe something like: 70's small car club. since most of the cars are 1970's cars and small.

You don't have to run the club, let people that are keen to do the work take it on. You just have to be a member to get cheap rego.

I think there should be a combined car club for all the smaller 70's cars like the datsuns, toyotas, mazdas, fords, and holdens etc for which there aren't already clubs for.

Yes but their owners may be enthusiests of japanese cars... Not that it really matters if we're not gonna enforce any rules.

dont you have to be an incorporated club to get those benefits? if so you need a committee, club accounts, designated meeting and worst of all a constitution and by laws. it's a big head **** if you don't know what your doing.

Do you have an accredited scrutineer to do the checks for the club rego's? Wouldn't it be easier to just join an already established CAMS affiliated car club? I'm with Nissan Car Club, only cost $40 per year for membership.

Just had another chat with my old man today... And he recons that to have a car licenced on club rego it doesnt have to be all original, or close to it. He said alot of the hotrods and other modifyed yank tanks are on club lic. So maybe there is hope for us all yet!

Jordan, did you find out any specifc guidelines reguarding this when you went and visited the DPI?

ummm this is a hard one too answer . as far as dpi are concerned it has to be 100% original . but the guy that is in charge of the post vintage department is in the verteran car club and has a lightly moded ford f truck on club rego .

if you read the rules there all bendable like up grades for safty resons , well so thats disk brakes and because you have disk brakes now you need 13inch wheels to go over the disks , and the guy said interor can be redone as long as its in a old skool tast . ,

now engine mods well if your unable to get the original part you can use a simular part or make a part... exorst manifoilds are hard to get ;) so you need extrackors , the original carbies are hard to get so wat the closest thing ? maybe a webber lol . but it cant go over the original 1 litre or 1.2 litre , it depends on how much you wanna bend the rules . like you sent the con rod through the block and cant find a nother a10 so the closest block was a a15 . ect ect

hope that shines some light on it for you chris
