Rockingham, it's like the Wanneroo of the south.

Stay in the coastal region, North or South. The people get stranger the further inland you go.

Yeah you know I'm kidding.

The cops call one of the suburbs (I forget which one, maybe a few of them) up near merriwa "Balga by the sea".

I've been living in Kardinya for the last 3 years. Only complaint is the amount of mossies around, especially in summer. I was out changing the oil and filter in the driveway today, and there were heaps of the little blood suckers trying to bite me at 4pm in the arvo. I hate living near "Lakes" which are really just swamps.

Thanks for the replies guys...... you are a passionate bunch!

To begin with I will be working from an office in Belmont (which is handy - Close to the Casino!) No need for a train - EVER, so that doesn't come into the equation at all.

My timeline just got brought forward too... I may be there as early as October, so now I really need to get the race car running again to make it easier to transport across!

Any suggestions for somewhere realtively close to Belmont which is not going to be under the flight path?

go for hills!!!! Kalamunda area is pretty good, especially if you like twisty roads  I just moved up roleystone area with the folks. Extra 5-10 min up the hill every day, but when there's no traffic i enjoy every second of it. Bit more of a bush setting... almost in the country :P

Just find a house for rent i guess (thats not that easy) and take a look around.

You looking to buy after a while, or stay renting?

Well....I have a little more time to figure it all out - Thank God!

The timeframe has moved back to the original plan, which is January Next year, still not all that far away when I consider the number of things I need to get organised between now and then!

Anyway, thanks for the suggestions guys. I look forward to getting over there and meeting up with some of you (again in some cases - it's been about 4 years!) and letting the car loose on a new race track

Cheers,

Mark.

Unless your buying a house you might have to live in a cardboard box under a bridge. the rental market over here is crazy there's not enough houses and rents are skyrocketing. People are even bribing estate agents with cash payments or offering more rent than the owner was asking. The buying market has slowed a bit over the last year, house prices have fallen slightly, but with 40,000 people estimated to be moving to WA in the next year (or was that next 3 years? I forget) they are tipping that the housing market will take off again soon.
