Hey Dave :)
Yeah, I think those pics of those damaged, horrible looking, modern Rota multi-spoke mags that got posted around the net
didn't help with their brand 'image'.
But the RB's & the RBR's are a different kettle... Have you SEEN the casting thickness on these things?! :o
It's NOT going to break any time soon. Those 8.5" ones weigh 9kgs each anyway!

GSpec, I've driven an E-Type & I'm not a fan. I like Jags (& other pommy stuff) but it just didn't feel 'right' for me...
That's the original gold/babycack brown colour - it's never had a paint job.
And yes, quite a lot of panels are availible for them from places like 'Rare Spares' & 'AllZedParts'

I think the perception of people thinking that Zeds are expensive is a little off balance though.
I've seen the prices of what some people spend on Roadsters & 1600's... Zeds are still very good value for $ for what you get :)

awesome project :D 2 seat zed is one of the cars i hope to own in the next 10 years along with a 1200 coupe and a wagon of some sort. im with the helix though, suspention should be on the to do list. getting a good stance does as much as paint, esp because the paint doesnt look that bad. what was the original colour?

Yeah, I think I'll be fitting some lowered springs...
Oh & that IS the original paint and colour!
Wisey, if you want a 2 seater get one ASAP - they are skyrocketing up in price...

Oh & I think I've found the colour scheme I'll be going with. Opinions?

Looks neat. I am yet to see a colour I don't like on the Zs - though I have never seen one painted in one of the flip colour paints.

Never been a fan of gold cars, yet i owned a champagne coloured S13 :)

It's hard to decide on such a huge part of the car, it's what everyone see's initially and can change the look of a car quite a lot

I dont like silver at all, its a very boring colour, BUT it really does show off the lines of a car the best (read this somewhere and it does ring true) so the like colours like the gold you have chosen will do a similar thing,

In the end of the day it's your call, if you dont like it, it's just more money to get it resprayed :)

The wheels will really enhance the stance of the car, so as long as it's lowered too, it will look awsome in whatever colour you choose

I'd love to see a metallic chocolate/cherry cola colour, along with good chrome and those wheels i think would look menacing, then add the flares for the midnight wangan look!

Fu*king 'Midnight Wangan' Look!!!
Everyone seams to jump on that bandwagon - I'm won't be (I'm not having a go at you directly, Stoney).

There's a serious amount of bodywork required to fit flares & on my Zed I don't think it's justified.
I was originally going to paint it in a Ford orange colour, so whatever I choose I'll devide people

I meant the last bit as a joke, just didn't write it that way

Sure flares and what not do look cool, but its done to death

The wheels you have will be more than enough to make it stand out

I've got a rear 'Spook' for the back & a mate has some small side-skirt 'lips' on his 2+2 that I might copy.

BTW, here's a pic of my mate Sulio's 2seater:

Looks like sex, but the flares just arn't for me with this project...
