The guy down the street has got two of them (FJ20??),sitting in the shed. Will get the L26 running in a week and see how it goes. I'm not going to race it....so,might stick to the L26 if it runs well. |

If it runs well, and it's matching numbers, you'd have to be mentally deficient to chuck out the L26, it'll be worth much more with the L26 in it, and you can make more than enough power with it.Also, keep any of the original gear you pull out of the car eg carbies, etc. That stuff allows you to return it to stock, or it allows whoever buys the car to return it to stock. Also, i think it won't be easy (or cheap) finding a tailshaft or gearbox that will bolt up for this conversion, not to mention engine mounts, etc. |

Meh, matching numbers only mean something for cars that get parked in an expensive garage and polished once a month by an old guy with ear hair. You have seen 260DETs FJ20 Z? I have matching numbers in my car, and I drive it every day.It's even been to Queensland. Although, it's only a 200B. Still, they can hardly go down in value much more. |

Thats kind of my point - the part of your car that is good is that you enjoy it, not that it has matching numbers. (ps - do the FJ swap) |

I guess it depends what you want to do with the car and what sort of a car you want it to be. If you're just after a nice weekender/fun daily and you're happy with the way the car performs then keep it original. If you want a track car or to really do it up then you can consider engine conversions. How original is the rest of the car? Is it all original interior, etc? If it's something like a one-owner car and all original and clean then I'd suggest keep it original. If not and you want to do it up, keep all of the original parts in back of your garage and don't cut anything or do any irreversible mods |

Its all original, do't know about the bonnet vents!! Otherwise, its stock. |
