yep, they came on the Deluxe models and above I think... my dad had one back in the 70's, it's in the wiring diagram too.
help you see at night when tuning those twin SU's .. ;)

addition: while rewiring my car, there were a few extra things... has anyone EVER had the globe/light set up above the radio where that white rectangle lens is?
it's in the wiring diagram, and that's what the blanking plug opposite the fan speed switch is for.

yeah i actually saw a setup on ebay while back, surprised they didnt come stock standard (the dash bit)
im sure it wouldnt be too hard to make your own setup using a fan speed switch in that hole?
