Thinking of having another go and use a tub of builders bog to get the lines a bit more cohesive and flowing. Wasn't sure if I was going to like the positioning so only spent a couple of hours on them. The boxes are 8mm MDF with 4mm backing and fixed the same as the original kick panels using those little clips through the MDF. The enclosure volume isn't massive but big enough for the 4"'s I reckon.

Hey i just put a stereo in my car and mounted the speakers in the kick pannels inder the dash and it looks good for me

where did you get that cluster surround made and by whom? Have you got any more pics of it or the install?

Mounting in the kick panels is def the way to go.

For sound quality, its best to mount tweeters as close to the woofer as possible also.

If the enclosure could be made bigger then thats better. Use thick mdf as the baffle (The wood you mount the actual speaker into with screws) and all internal surfaces should be deadened.

If you already have holes in your door trims for speakers, then follow the same principles - thick wood for mounting and deadening.

Car audio is overrated...
Plus 1 in all of that... Front speakers don't belong in a datto. I have some tweeters in the front for a bit of intelligibility and 6 x 9's in the back. Job done :)

Amen, front speakers don't belong up there, loving the tweeter idea though!!!
