No video. I had the video camera all charged up and ready to go, pity the mount was still attached to the roll bar in the MX5 at home
I got the slicks from Option-1 in Qld, they were selling Achilles GS-328 slicks cheap that were getting a bit long in the tooth. Only cost around $400 landed on my doorstep. Their ad is gone so I'm guessing they cleared all the older stock they had.
I'll book the car in for an appointment with a hose tonight, I was going to do it on the weekend but sounds like sooner is better especially as its all over my nice alloy radiator
It's a bit of a reminder that we should plan for disasters (Dave puts his work hat on - IT Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Specialist
). I've seen a car burn to the ground when the little 1kg extinguishers CAMS require didn't do the job and they were left trackside holding an empty extinguisher and watching their car burn. By the time other competitors stopped and tried to help and the fire marshalls arrived it was too late, since that day I've carried two onboard just in case.
Another thing to consider is how quick you can get out of your car. I found out yesterday that I can't get out of the car whilst wearing the HANS - I can't get my head low enough to get it out under the roll cage as the HANS does what it is supposed to do and holds your head upright and fairly firmly centred. So had to sit in the car watching smoke pouring out from under the bonnet, unclip and remove HANS, then get out.
So, have a test run at an emergency exit from your car in full safety gear !
