how strong are these brackets? They look quite thin. The double ones would be fine I imagine, but it looks like the single ones would have the potential to flex still.
Joel you would need a engineers vice and some leverage to bend it, it's made out of 3mm thk stainless, must be of a real high grade because there is no way it will flex just on the load from the steering box.

also the box doesn not move up, the moves back and forwards between the engine and inner wheel well, so the vertical part of the brace takes the load onto the wheel well.

I posted some time ago that we would make steering box braces for 180Bs
These are the same design as our 1600 brace.
Look nearly identical.
A few changes in angles & length were required to fit 180Bs.
These are now in production.
The 180B braces will be ready in 3 weeks.
We are only producing 10 of these to suit the three bolt 180Bs.
Need to test how they sell before producing more.
we may also make them to suit the 4 bolt steering box if enough interest.
So if you want a 3 bolt brace email
baz@datsport.com
so that it gets into the order system.
Same price as our 1600 brace.

The reason we use a two piece brace as it does not flex as much as the single. They do under our testing.

Also the extra thickness was to prevent sector shaft rebound from bending the top plate
on the steering box. The adjuster screw is under extreme load when severe bumps
are encountered, or bouncing of the berms.
besides the 2 piece looks better.
