with a bit of luck we might have a short circuit track in a few years !
Quote:
Bitumen Plans ? 2008 and Beyond!!!

For the last few years the club has been working towards bitumening the track. The aim is to add to the overall
complex, but not lose the dirt track aspect. It has been very successful and many members enjoy the Autocross and
Dirt Sprint.
Kevin Parkes has spent time obtaining grants in the past, that we have been unable to use due to the timing and
financial position of the club. Other club members have also put in time obtaining soil tests in the preliminary
phases. Moss Lane has recently taken over the grant writing task and is pushing toward a Sports and Recreation
Major Facilities Grant.
The club is now ready to take the next step in the future of Willowbank Park. It is planned to seal the 1.2km section
of the circuit. We envisage that this will take the club to the next level and secure the clubs future for at least the
next decade.
The application to the State Government through Sports and Recreations Major Facilities Grant is for $200
000. One condition is that the club has to have a dollar for dollar input, meaning that we need to have a similar. Raising this capital requires some creativity and we are calling on the club membership and the motorsport community in general to help raise the extra capital.

they've been talking about doing it for years, they even sold their club house to fund it.

Maybe they could keep the dirt track and build a tarmac one inside or outside it ?

I found the track fun, but there was way too much clay to clean off afterwards.

Yeh, someone tell me what you would race on such a tight tarmac track, be very specialised I'd think. What we really need is an interesting and fast tarmac circuit which would suit all sorts of cars.

morgan park ?

mind you I have often thought that a very tight track might prove interesting for timed drift events.....but that is already being done on the archerfiled go-kart track

Morgan Park is OK but too tight for me, I like a track that has some fast sweepers and a long straight so you can pull some speed.

Phillip Island is simply awesome, everyone should treat themselves to a drive there. Lakeside was fast and scarey, could be unforgiving though. Of whats around at the moment in Q I prefer the Sprint circuit at QR.
