The other day i noticed a squaling noise coming from my motor, i thought it was just a loose hose or something but i tightened them all and the noise is still there. It sounds like the noise is coming from under the inlet manifold somewhere but i dont know where.

Anyway i went for a drive tonight and after i gave it abit the squealing got louder and now the car idles at 1500rpm? The noise is only there when the motor is on full vacuum.

Any ideas :?:

Well it sounds like you have a vacuum leak somewhere.
Check all the VACUUM rubber hoses and see if you can find a culprit some where. :?
I don't know what your engine configuration is but try following each hose end to end to determine integrity.

I found the problem this morning

The inlet manifold gasket has blown but the motor was rebuilt 6 months
ago and has been running 14psi.

Bugger!

That is a lot of boost!
Make sure all the safety valves are present and correct, i.e. boost control, waste gate and over boost valve.
Trust me I have seen an SR20DET which was uncontrolled and it wasn't pretty!
Try $2000 in parts alone!!!! :x

according to the guy that built the motor, the gasket blew because the FJ came with a brace that goes from the inlet manifold to the engine mount, but 99% of people give it the toss when installing the motor, and he never informed me that it wasnt there so he is sending me the gasket for nothing but im installing it and tracking down a brace.

Anyone have a spare one lying around?

I think I have two in my shed somewhere.
I know I've got the original.
I've also got a home made one which was necessary due to my engine mount design.
You could probably save a fair bit of weight by making up a brace out of some flat bar.
Let me know if you are wanting pics. or anything else.
