Can anyone recommend an engineer for a z18 conversion in Melbourne or country victoria. A mobile engineer would be even better.

cheers tony

I'm using Bill Malkoutzis (from Eltham). He charges to visit (depending on the distance), and his fees for a certificate are reasonably expensive. (I think it's around $1100 for my car with an SR20DET and other bits and pieces.)

He's pretty pedantic too, which is good, because you know you aren't going to get away with anything

His number is:
9439 2334 / 0409 439 315

Yeah, met up with your Cousin!

No Idea on the Automotive Engineer from Ballarat.

You'll have to sing out when you're down in the Eastern Suburbs. I'll give you a look at the car.

Nik

Have you spoken to Ross Stapleton? He has helped me get in contact with ppl to get help with my 1600s.....

Or you could speek to wayne at wbd automotive? I think he would know.

I haven't had to get anything engineered but I would contact the above if I needed to find an engineer here in Ballarat.

I used Protek for my engineered 1600 with a z18 in it.
They where great. Booked out for months but no stuffing around.

To give you an idea they did my cooler, pod, fuel set up, seats, rims,3in turboback no cat, microtec brakes (200b at the time)
very well priced and no stuffing around.

Ill only be using them again.

they are in carrum downs

Give my bro a call, he worked for Mazfix, Dysons and Rocco's Performance and now has his own company in Ballarat - Jays Rotor Craft.

Sorry I didn't give you this info earlier in this post, just had to confirm with him if he was ready to start doing jobs (had the equipment etc)

He is very experienced in Z18 conversions along with many other conversions. Has his own Datsun 1200 project at the moment with custom fabrication etc

He can do engineers certificates as well as custom fabrication, he can also come to you if you want :D

PM if you want more details :)

Datspeed,

The engineer will recommend you leave it standard (so it meets the factory emissions)
Then modify it!

Time for an update, ive had an initial review with my engineer and he has provided a list of thigs to correct. Nothing major... relocating efi fuel pump and re-positioning surge tank, pumping out the front guards so that the top of the wheel is covered, re-jig battery mounting in the boot. I few other little things which i have had to bite my lip over, but more of that later. Now waiting for brake and noise tests to proceed.
