Hey all, 1600_head wanted me to make a thread, so here it is:

Going to continually Update this post with current cars...

I also have a '72 1600. I bought it in January, simply because there isnt any rust , There are two 20cent coin sized bits that will be gone after some rust converter hits them. The L20 in the car was stuffed, as were the brakes. Here is what i have done:
1972 Datsun 1600

Engine:
1998cc L18
45mm webbers, 36mm chokes on datrally manifold
Series2 bluebird re-graphed dizzy and coil
Pacemaker extractors
Engine fully balanced including clutch
Facet Fuel pump

Driveline:
240k 5speed
4.11 R180
lightened flywheel,
6cly.exedy rally spec clutch.

Brakes:
240z twinspots on the front
Drum rear end(have r31 stuff waiting to go on)
180b booster
7/8th's master

Suspension:
Adjustable Radius rods(castor)
Adjustable Lower Control Arms(camber)
Lovell Springs
Koni Red Shocks

Electrical:
Full re-wire with circuit breakers/relays to support a halogen conversion.
VDO Tacho with internal shift light mounted in the place of the factory tacho
VDO Oil press.
VDO Water Temp.
VDO Volts.
Rebuilt 90amp alternator and starter.
Battery in boot.

I did the engine swap with a mate(It is Cam Eastwoods old motor). All parts were brand new where possible on the whole car. I got the re-wire done after my fuel pump and headlights died at 3am on Mt Baw Baw... RACV total care FTW!

Nice collection of cars you've got, was looking at that car for sale, absolute steal if you knew someone who had access to painting or was willing to wait for the the paint to dry :)

Looks like a nice little powerplant once you've finished with it

digital camera was left in a friends car two days ago, going away for the weekend so photos when i get back.

Blew the head gasket last friday, was just wear and tear, getting a custom one made up, weighing up raising the compression to 10.5:1 from the current 9.8:1

Also should have a nice new EMS 8860 next week... then wire it in, tune it, tidy up alot of sh*t on the car, and hopefully Willy will have time to do the body.

a new ems? the wiring was a bit average on that as it was second hand from a smashed car i guess. how are you coing to raise compression? genuine nissan gasket is a sure fire way to be safe and it shouldn't cost too much. who's tuning and wiring it up for you?

magic :P not going to do it, just new gasket and head stud kit for now... if i decide to rally it in the future i'll pull it down, freshen up and raise the comp. Chris @ nissco is wiring it, and most likely tuning it.
