Can I say thanks for posting your build on the forum

I've just bought a worked FJ20e, but it needs a freshen up. I have a couple of questions about your pistons.
Who modified them for the circlips? What compression ratio do they give? Will you have enough clearance with the bigger cams?

Thanks,
Josh

For anyone who does a R31 rear disk conversion onto a 200B coupe. Just a quickie for you.

Since the install I have noticed the calipers with new pads very hard to get over the disks. I have also noticed that they were butting up quite hard and this was leading to the inside pad constantly running against the disk and generating a lot of heat through the hub and mag wheel even though the pistons were wound all the way back.

To solve this, I removed the slides off the calipers (don't have to disconnect the brake lines or anything which is great) and had 1mm machined off the mounting face. This positioned the caliper much better and now they run freely, smoothly and cool with no binding issues at all.

Just putting it out there for you all.

Cheers

Finally! After nearly 6 months of waiting, the Holinger is in the car :D

We also installed the R180 5.1 LSD at the same time.

What a difference. I'll never go back to a normal ratio box. I can finally see why people rave on about CR gearboxes. My engine is very doughy (still on a rough tune) and the box has helped immenesly. The revs barely drop at all through the gears, especially 2nd to 3rd. That big dip in the revs is long gone.

Woo hoo  :woohoo:

I should probably change my title as the Na is gone now. I just dropped a turbo motor in. Gotta love 200b's as I have no clearance issues anywhere! I'll even be able to fit my new 450x300x76 intercooler behind the grill infront of the Ac condensor.

Plenty of work to do with the piping yet but so far its been an easy swap. Throttle cable fits too!

Also have a complete HR31 turbo rear end including Cv's, arms, r200 4.375 lsd and brakes to see if it all fits. I know the arms bolt straight in no mods. Just need to check width for cv's and wheel track.

Pics to follow.

Get some pictures up! I managed to fit my intercooler and piping in without chopping my radiator support at all, so let me know if you'd like some pictures

Funnily enough I'm fitting my cooler and radiator in my 200B at present. It's all going behind the radiator support and leaning forward enough so I have room for 2 thermos. Basically made an alloy sheet to sit between the chassis rail that mounts at the bottom. This is for a 400x400x76 cooler and s13 generic alloy radiator. There's stuff all room between the harmonic balancer and thermos, but enough to keep me happy. Allows me to run the a/c condensor in the front now with a thermo on it, all behind the grill with no cutting whatso ever.

Also I have done the full R200 swap many years ago. I do believe I have a thread on here somewhere. You'll need to cut down your rear mount and relocate the mounting pin bolt. Your track will change outward by about 20mm. Haven't measured it but my original 17x7 mags with a 205 tyre that use to fit snug would then scrub the outer guard quite hard. I've ended up running R31 chaser rims and a 195/60 tyre that will allow it to fit inside the guard. A fwd offset wheel would be ideal.

I have both HR31 and DR30 rear ends. The car runs a complete DR30 rear at present with DR30 brakes, which was good as the handbrake runs off the caliper. All bolted up pretty easy. HR31 however run a separate drum for the handbrake, slightly different setup. Good cause you can add R33 calipers alot easier and there is slightly more adjustment in the a arms in terms of camber (bugger all though). I'll swapping to this setup in the near future when I have rebuilt all my GTR calipers, added new bushes to the rear end and coverted the HR31 struts to coilovers.

I'd like to see some pics of that cooler set up.

Also, yes as for that HR31 set up. I did some measurements. The swing arms will bolt directly to the SSS X-member ok. Looks like track will increase but to what degree I was not able to measure. The CV flange on the inside of the HR31 hub is about 20mm furthure in than the SSS one. So that combined with the extra 20mm of width of a R200 means at least 40mm less room for the CV's.

I didn't get a chance to actually unbolt my R180 and swing arms and fit the R200 and HR31 arms. Will have a better idea when I do that at some stage. To be honest, I'd prefer to keep my SSS arms as I already have R31 brakes (yes I know not as good as HR31) and everything is brand new. I'd have to rebuild the HR31 arms again, calipers, braided lines etc. Rather not if I can help it.

These badges turned up in the mail today. Yay JDM goodness!!

So....... Which ones?

I'm going for 15 x 8 - 8.5 (between 0 and -12 offset) Rear and 15 x 7 (between 0 and -2 offset) Front

I hope to run Khumo KU36's at 205/50/15.

No Flares (I just can't bring myself to cut the car).

I'm currently torn between the two. Either way, I'll get a set with decent offset.

The Watanabe's I think will last longer due to not having bolts where water can get behind but I like the shiny look of the 03's.

This is my big present for the car and I only want to do it once.

I want to be able to like what I have chosen in another 20+ years as I do not plan on selling the car ever.

Opinions Please!!!!!!!

Personally, I think the "timelessness" of the Watanabes just gets them over the line - a classic that will never go out of style.

Having said that, I've looked at the B-Bombs for my 180B SSS (if it ever gets off the rotisserie and needs wheels), I like them too.
