All right, so after some long hard thinking.. datto is getting alot of money thrown at her..!!! Next on the parts list from Baz are ; 1.) New Struts. Attachment:
2.) Handling kit.
Attachment:
3.) what ever else i need to finish the car off... haha Motor is in my workshop.. gonna put some ARP mains in and give it another tidy up as it has been in the shed for a few years with no attention (yes the 2L i built at the start of this thread ) and get the head to the machine shop to get cleaned, new seats, guides, valve cut etc. pull the rebuilt box out of the shed turn it over a few times. and start to assemble everything needed to get motor into the car. Interior (easy cos i share a workshed with an upholstery fella ) and yeah. get the chrome re-done. and rego the bitch..! |

Keeping the L series? Fantastic idea! If you ever get bored with it (I do miss mine), you can always install the SR20 turbs with the x-member you are buying. |

Cheers Trav And Nick, That's was one of the idea's i had in-mind with buying the handling kit. But mainly so i have a brand new front end as-well..! Nice and tight, but adjustable for street or track if need be Yeah, gonna go all out with the L series (L20 with 1.5+ Flat tops, ported ex race/rally head 72deg Wade 487 cam bigger manley staino valves and HD springs and contemplating buying EFI for it |

Okay, so i have just order'd the new 44mm inlet and 38mm exhaust staino valves ($215 for the set posted). head goes in some time next week for a total service, pressure test etc.etc. $$$ but yeah, going all out on this motor so the heads very important.. it's already a ported head, gone the big valves with a 72deg cam, not overkill is it? haha. |

My current stroker has 44 inlets with 38 exhausts and a decent port job. 68 Deg cam to work with the Stroke. originally I was going to build it up, but... plans changed. But thats a good option. With that cam, you may want a set of Webers or Dellortos to really push through the vacuum. I had twin SU's and even they struggled a bit. I'd aim for a 10.2 - 10.4 Comp ratio for the road and today's fuel choice too. Its not so much the valves you need to worry about also, but make sure the valve seats are stainless, as they'll get destroyed without the lead replacement fuel. Like to know what else you're planning for the engine? |

regardless. I was told to change the seats to SS anyway. Worth doing it right the first time. |

Yeah, i was under the impression you don't have too, but SS are the better option, so i will have them put in. along with new guides etc. total rebuilt on the head. should be smick when it's done. i just havent had a chance to look at the ported head i've got, im hoping it's closed chamber. but i may be open... what's people's thoughts on open vs closed on a worked L20 with flat tops +1.5 O/S blueprinted blah bah blah etc etc. |
