Is that for a new billet cam? that's a bloody good price then!!

If it's for a regrind, then I believe you would need new lash pads (might get away without them, but would be highly advisable) as you've lost some of the base circle diameter of the cam lobe.

Oh yeah, 30/70 is a pretty good profile. I had one in my first rally car and it went very well. I later had a 31/66 (I think) in an L20, and it was a good street cam. Not a lot over 6500RPM, but pulled pretty well at lower RPM

You really need to talk to a cam specialist to best suit a cam to your car, as there are too many variables to just pick a number out of the air.

I sincerly would like to know how they can do this without the need for thicker lash pads.

can't you just adjust the lifter posts up a bit to compensate? :?:

That only adjusts one side of the rocker, meaning that the angle at which the cam lobe rubs against the rocker is incorrect. This will cause the rocker to fail after a while. The timing is also affected, if you think about it.

Cheers,

The quick answer is that the lash pads are thicker, offsetting the change in lobe diameter caused when the cam's been reground.

By using thicker lashpads and adjusting the posts up a bit, the rocker is moved up towards the cam, allowing valve clearance to be set without a major change to the angle of the rocker arm. :D

Cheers,
