Awesome, how does it feel on road tho!?

25 psi on 98 is keen, but its all in the tune I spose. Mine died when we wound it up to 25 but there were a few contributing factors, spark plug heat range being one. That's good power mate you must be stoked with that curve!

Also on the oil cooler I found that with the extra capacity of a bigger sump I was actually struggling to get up to temp. If you have a gauge you can see how it goes

Very nice fab work there! Are you going for the new motec that is crazy cheap at the moment (for motec)? Flex fuel as in e85?

Feels pretty crazy on the road to be honest, but the weather has been a bit damp so hard to find a dry street

I think 25psi will be OK on the street, will run less on the track though probably about 20 psi just to give a bit more safety factor. What heat range plugs were you running?

I think the Motec M84 is the one you are talking about? Probably be the best option but I havent completely reviewed their current lineup yet and some options are horrendously expensive.

By flex fuel i mean e85 but with a fuel mixture sensor so you can run any mix of e85 or pulp and the ecu will adjust accordingly. Means you can fillup with whatever is handy and get the most power without any adjustment.

Ah yep, the megasquirt has a flex sensor output and a mate sourced a gm one to check out, I was going to investigate after the Nats

I was running the stock 6's but have since gone to 7's. mine actually got too hot and caused detonation which in turn smashed a plug. It was all over in a fraction of a second :(

Motec is the bees knees... Have a sneaky look at the megasquirt v3 extra - it's very impressive. Tuners who've not heard of them are quick to rubbish what they don't know but they are a good bit of gear.

Great work on the twin scroll, they are the answer to good power without being lag monsters

Yea the megasquirt could be OK - I actually built one of these way back in 2000 when it was known as the efi332 project. I used that on an L series and it was pretty good. I should catch up with where the development is up to these days...

just to keep plugging the twin scroll t3 turbo... i did a bit of comparing to nik's dyno graph where he is running the trusty disco potato. The disco is a well matched (front and rear wheel) turbo and is a great match for the sr if wanting 200-240kw. comparing boost and power between the two graphs...

power/boost 3000rpm
disco 12psi 80 kw
ts 20psi 125 kw

power/boost 3500rpm (full boost)
disco 18 psi 125kw
ts 25psi 165kw

its a good advert for boost response and power delivery low in the rev range!

Leigh, ive got a better graph from chequered tuning where I have full 17psi by 3100rpm. Should try and upload it so we can compare. You are right though, response is impressive with the twin scroll!

I guess its time for an update.

Since power is no longer an issue it was time to start working on improving handling. Since changing the front swaybar to provide clearance for the bigger sump (smaller diameter swaybar from SWR), the handling was badly affected - too much oversteer and not easy to control. So with the help of a friend of mine we decided to change the swaybar linkage to change the motion ratio instead of getting a new bar made.

I also decided to get the Bilsteins recoed and revalved after 15 yrs of copping abuse. Chopped the struts down a bit shorter to get some more travel as well. Sent the Bilsteins down to Baker's in Melbourne to work their magic.

Also got the shits with crappy DBA/RDA discs continually warping after track days so got some Project Mu discs sent over from a friend in Japan - no more issues in that area.

Pics of new swaybar link mount:

The changes made a huge difference next time out on race track and it was much easier and more fun to drive.

Spring rates felt a bit soft though, so went up in rate to 400lb/in in front. Measured the supposed 1100lb King rear springs and found they were actually about 850lb/in.

It's difficult to find springs that are properly rated to suit a Datto, so we decided to modify trailing arms to accept race style springs (smaller diameter) and also put in some height adjustment platforms. I dont have any photos of that setup but will try and get some up here soon.

Did another track day at Wakefield back in May and it was better again and ran a new PB so happy days.

Looks good Chris!

The sway bar mods, is that the same fab guy who did your manifold? What lap time at Wakefield?

What tyres? 1:08s is what I'm going for.

I assume Andrew Peters 1600 was still street reg when doing sub 1:08?

I know a guy who ran 1.06.0 in his datto after driving from Sydney.
Pity he's a cockhead.
