Hey,

We are thinking about running in the QLD 500 this year.
Who else is running ?

Anybody got a team that needs more members or wants to join up with us ?
QLD 500 - 8th June 2008

Official QLD Raceway Info.
Info Pack http://www.qldraceways.com.au/Administr ... k_2008.pdf
Entry Form
http://www.qldraceways.com.au/Administr ... m_2008.pdf

Basically its 500 k's split between 2 to 4 cars. so 40 to 80 laps for each car (max 112 laps per driver)
There are morning practice & qualifying sessions with the racing starting in the afternoon and finishing around 8.00 at night.

SO WHAT INTEREST IS THERE ?

I suppose you want someone with a car that won't break down half way through? Probably not a good shakedown for an untested vehicle

Nope.

finally got it into a shed in December last year. Stripped the suspension out of it in January, and it's still sitting in the corner of my suspension dude's workshop gathering dust :x

Not likely to get a run this side of June, either.

Did my OLT's and still waiting for my CAMS licence too.

Then again, I've only had one week at home since mid January, so time to work on the car has been non existent, too.

whats the deal with the observed driving test ?
where & how is it done ?

I would prefer a cams circuit lisence, but the aasa system is easier & quicker.

I did mine for a rally licence.
Just apply for the licence, then they send you an email detailing what you have to do (online lecture and 2 OLT's in my case).

the OLT's for rally had to be motorkhana, khanacross, dirt sprint or autocross (basically any rally type event you can do with a L2S licence). Get the COC or CAMS stewards to sign the paperwork at each event (there was a lot of discussion between the stewards and COC about who was actually responsible for signing the paperwork on the days I did mine)

then send the form back to CAMS and wait patiently for your licence (going on about 4 weeks now  )

I think circuit is much the same, but not 100% sure which events count as OLT's. Agian, probably anything you can do with an L2S.

OK so it sounds like I could even do them at Mt Cotton.
sounds protracted though

to upgrade a AASA clubman to a national (circuit) you can do it on the morning of the event, tell them you want to upgrade, they watch you in practice and then you pay your money. It just seems so much easier. not sure why cams makes things so protracted ?

I want to do topgear racing in a couple of weeks so i reckon i will end up with 2 x circuit licenses. :?

The CAMS licence is so expensive in a number of ways compared to AASA. Targa Tassie is using AASA and i know of few people who are over the moon about it being a AASA event, the licence fee is less than half that of CAMS with the smae protection etc.
