I can't believe how long it has been since my last post. Still no Fairlady in my garage but is getting closer. Here a few pictures of progress made in the past few months.
The chassis has since been sand blasted, etched and ready to be painted with a product called POR15 which is suppose to be super hard wearing, along with all suspension and steering components.
The Guards I found were not as good as they looked after getting them back from the dip. Especially the left side as you can see in the pictures 2 guards were used to make the one. Although I must admit the job he did on the guard is pretty impressive. Gotta love finding these old repairs people do, the rusted area was only pushed in and a plate welded over the top. Oh well i'm just glad I wasn't paying for those repairs, well I guess I kind of am because if it was done right in the first place I wouldn't be doing it now.
A final mock of everything to make sure it all lines up and gaps are sorted and it then gets a poly coat or something like that. Hopefully have more pics soon as the bottom 3 were only taken today.

Thanks SX-510, So far I've had no say in the timing of it, was hoping to be finished 6 months ago but for unseen circumstances still going(6 months just to find a new set of guards).
Hopefully be back and black(shiny) in a couple months.
Just debating if to run the BRE stripes across the bonnet and down the guards as pictured on the left.
Or only on the guards as on the right but with the Dastun logo the same as on the left car.
Do I do the thicker or thinner stripes?
These will be done in black metal flake so it will look more like a shadow image but will hopefully pop in the sunlight, the only time the car will be driven.

That was my thoughts as well but still not sure as mine won't be so bold(black on red), if you know what I mean.

More progress on the roadster, new clutch, car and chassis are painted and looks awesome, unfortunately the graphics didn't work to what I had imagined in my own head so they will be changed to a solid colour, silver. Hopefully will be done in the coming weeks so i will be posting more pics soon.

The paint looks fantastic, Clive, and the stripes just finish it off! This vehicle will be a work of art once it's back together and driving.

Hi,
Love what you have done to the Fairlady. Looks cool (of course it’s a Fairlady roadster) and functional, should be a fun ride.
A newbie to Ozdat, I posted a wanted ad here some time back, a year went by and I thought it wasn’t going to produce anything then – bingo. I’m now the owner of SP310-10822 a 1965, 1500cc (G engine) model. Just like this (thanks to earlydatsun.com for this and so much more information).

She’s been a restoration in progress since the mid 80s, at the moment it is one of those 90% complete and 90% to go jobs so it’s time for me to get moving to get her making noise and rolling.
The previous owner did a good job of keeping it original and I plan to continue this theme with one exception.
Disc brakes, very, very good ones! Your disc set up looks impressive. I don’t know if the late model callipers will fit into the 13 inch wheels which I want to keep (if possible). I believe there are a number of rotors and callipers that will work. If you have any tips or leads on parts I’d be grateful to hear about them.

Thanks Al, yeah am pretty happy with how it's turned out. Can't wait to get it going but may be I little while yet but worth the wait.

hi mate, good to see another Roadster owner on here. Good to hear you intend on leaving it original, mine was far from it which is why I have done the things I have. Where abouts are you from? If you need any help or info send me a PM and will do what I can. Have you seen the roadster forums yet? If not go to www.311s.org really good site for help and info also and a great bunch of people on there.

Okay, long overdue but the chassis is now back together and looks like new. What ever I could I replaced with new and if not was reconditioned. Running the single leaf rear spring, Koni adjustables front and rear with front comp springs. Coming together very nicely, hopefully be on the road for this coming summer. 8)
Trying to build a car out of a small single car garage is a real pain, highly wouldn't recommend it.

So loving this build up.

Whens the next update. After all it is Summer. Less the massive down pour we're having.

Wouldnt mind eye balling it in person one day.

Have you any knowledge of where another may be? As i really do feel the need to own one.

Keep it up =) Looks brilliant.
