Do you know that for a fact? Sounds enough to me - a bearing moving more than 2mm is pretty major. Decent maintenance will prevent that. If the bearing's that bad, it will likely overheat, seize and spin the nut off the stub axle anyway.

What thickness are your discs? What calipers were you planning on using with them? How much you looking to sell the bits you can't use? Might fit my DR30 struts

You guys should checkout the caliper to wheel distance on some modern cars with factory brakes. It's probably only 2mm!!!

Check it out. If you can use this justification (measure up factory toyota/ford/holden etc.), and engineer would be happy as larry. (IMHO)

yeah i have seen some very close clearences....
i just dont think 2mm is "safe"....fair enough it might pass but ehhh..

can anyone measure from the ball joint bolts to the outside of the spindle of their r31 struts for me??

my calipers only had about 2mm clearance to the trx wheels when i had them on....never bothered them

what are you wanting to know withthe r31 struts? all up they should give the same track as 200b, as the inside wheel bearing sits in 10mm further than 200b/240k struts and the hub sits out 10mm further

thats exactly what i wanted to know....
since the strut is set back from the ball joint as such....
measured from those bottom bolts (on bottom of strut) to the end of the spindle (what the hub rotates on)...
i think u know what i'm on about...
actually if the bearrings sit further in that might not matter..hmmm might post a thing in the hub dimension thing too....

If its not too much to ask, a few lengths and a few diameters of the stub axle?

Thanks heaps.
I owe you. Maybe i could make you a set of hubs one day if this works out.
Chris
can anyone give some measurements on r31 struts with this??

like this

quickly ripped a wheel off to check brake pad wear before this weekend.
couple dodgy pics in the half dark

did i mention adjusting the stops to shorten up the turning circle so that the banjo bolt on the calipers wouldnt hit the sway bar ?

What grade bolts are you using to hold the bracket/calipers on?

high tensile bolts, they were about $5 each.

256fqq, i replied in the hub dimention thread, but might as well reply here

dimentions on the stub axle are more or less the same as 200b/240k but the bit that would be L5 is about 5mm shorter
but the thing i think you want to know is where the ledge of D4/D5 sits in relation to the steering arm bolts, and the answer is its 10mm closer to the steering arm bolts than on 200b/240k

thanks heaps for that....
yeah still tinkering/thinking....dont want the wheels outside the guards..thats the aim
just thinking of the 240k hub on the r31 struts...
my coilovered 240k struts dont fit...the tyre hits the spring and collars...the std spring seat usually sits higher so have to change...
and yes i'm a fussy ^*%$% hahhaaha 2nd 1600 build and this one is a 2 door so want it spot on...

so if the tyres hitting the spring seat wouldnt it be good to run bluebird hubs to push the wheel out 10mm....might be a bit much though

tried s12/bluey hub with my wheels, go straight outside the guards...
the std 1600/240k spring seat sits inch or so above the tyre...

Did anyone try the 3000GT rotor? If so how did they work out?

I have no idea what struts or hubs I have in the race car, but looking at doing the upgrade. Currently has 275mm rotors with S4 RX7 calipers. I have the R33 Calipers to take the 30mm thick rotor. Height of the current rotor is 52.5mm, but it is rubbing on the ball joint when sitting at ride height (I have 35mm RCA's installed also).

Heaps of room available from the caliper ot the wheel (35mm), So i am thinking the rotor height of 45mm on the 3000GT rotor should fix this problem. Is my thinking correct, or am I missing something?
