OK i have got the ducks guts on the problem.
the rotor is rubbing on the ears on the strut.
Mick was worried about taking what would have been at least 3mm out of the ears or the hub.
considering we are pulling this thing up from 200 kph into a hairpin I guess i cant blame him for worrying about it.
i thought they might..like i said above i havn't machined the centre bore of the rotor yet but i did some tidy measuring and they looked like it was going to foul....
the answer is 3000gt/gto rotors 9mm total height less.....everything else is the same...
damn i dont think i will machine mine up then....sell them as they are....
i dont really want to change struts cause mine a coilovere'd.....dahhhhh

Hey 256FQQ - where on the Gold Coast are you?

Are they 5 stud rotors you've got, or the 4 stud ones? i might be interested in seeing if they'll fit a pair of DR30 front struts I have lying around.

yes sorry.....s12 which i have been told are the same BB will bring it off the strut about 12mm i think round there abouts....and pushes ur wheels out about 20mm..

i quickly compared the 3000gt caliper to r33 last night....
the biggest positive i thought was the inside surface mounting ears (closest to rotor) of the caliper to the surface of the rotor on the 3000gt were 25mm
the r33 stuff is around half that....
this would make it easier for making a dogleg bracket...prob about all, but just good clearences in my situation..

warps...im in burleigh
they r undrilled r33 xs 4000 series rotors

Well i now have a "test" set of freshly machined rotors available if needed :)
they have been bored & redrilled to suit the 240k hubs.

I will let you guys know exactly what rotors when i can (i was told but i forgot already)

struts being swapped left to right this arvo, then they are starting on the brackets.
cross fingers and toes hopefully it will be ready for this weekend........

pushes the wheel out 20mm hey...will have to compare the hubs i have at home as it didnt look like there was that much of a difference. because if the disc only moves out 12mm and the wheel 20mm then there should be 8mm more metal between the wheel mounting surface and the disc mounting surface than 240k hubs, but the ones i have at home look like they have less material in this space
the only problem with using a disc that has less offset than the r33 disc is that you will most likely have next to no chance of fitting them under 15s

datto-510, you couldnt just get some 200b or stanza struts?

and do i just assume im lucky that ive got 3 pair of struts that these brakes fit, or are 240k struts just not cool

maybe not as much as 20mm but it was a fair bit.....

i looked before, but couldnt see a measurement that was from the back of the rear wheel bearing to the wheel mounting face. i like to find stuff out myself anyways, something about relying on what ive actually seen and what not

much like i would like to know why these brakes dont work on 240k struts when they do on stanza and 200b, 200b and 240k are supposed to be pretty much the same thing arent they?

yeah i could i guess, but as they are coil overs involves additional stuffing round and i am running the car every weekend for the next 4 weeks, so time is an issue and i desperately need some kind of vented brakes before i go back to qld raceway.

less relieving was required than first thought :)
also had to relieve lower control arms a bit.
had to adjust bump stops up to stop banjo connection of brake lines bumping on the sway bar
I have only had a quick drive, but seems quite nice with a gentle push.

good to here its all together

i find mine great for daily driving as you only just need to get the brakes working to pull the car up nicely, thats with my brakes being NQR at the moment.....expext them to be pulling up even better with less pedal travel when i get around to redoing the rest of the braking system
