nice car, seen it a few times. There are (were) nos door skins on ebay last time I looked, might be worth checking out.

You gotta get some piks up...

The air filter popping through the bonnet sort of spoils the sleeper look, lol...

Some would say that no matter what you do to an L series it is still only fit for a starter motor on a 253!

Why use the crappy trimatic auto?

Autos suck, and three speed autos suck even more. You'll get much more life outta your engine with a 5 speed manual.

Traumatic.

Seriously though, look at most Holdens with V8s in them. They all have slush boxes! This is because the sort of people who like V8 Holdens are too intelectually incapable to manually change gears. Also, autos make standstill burnouts easier.

even when the L series out powers the the 253.....but when a 308 is the same size as a 253 and has more power stock and has better build quality

would go a v6 over a 253 personally

Wow - really surprised that this guy hasn't come back for a chat. Why would he just disappear with the really positive reception he got?

Umm, because it has a high stall? Manuals suck because it places so much strain on the driveline when you drop the clutch to keep up with an auto who is stalling it up.
I reckon you'd get more life out of the engine with an auto. A lot less harsh on the drivetrain etc.
V8 with an auto makes good use of the torque available.

Good on you for putting the V8 in the Datto.

I bet the thing really goes.

Champion effort. I'd love to see it get up and boogie!

Nice warm reception some of you. No really, well done.
