What he said x2

Better to do it right, and be sure. Keep the custom stuff for track use. OR get it engineered properly by someone who can tell you what you need to do to keep it legal and safe.

None of it is legal in NSW without engineer's report on the specific components used including strength testing etc.

Sure you aren't changing the basic suspension design but the components are all manufactured differently. Spherical rod ends like those on the castor rods cannot be engineered at all and are completely illegal for road use.
all depends on who engineers your car :giggle:

so really, just engineer and register your car with standard parts, then switch to the goodies.
That's fine until you kill someone on the road and they go over your car.
Maybe that's your style of driving, but I haven't had an accident in 12 years of driving, so odds are that my history of driving wont lean towards killing someone.

Keep your pessimistic attitude to yourself.

It is something to keep in mind though - I know of one member on here who was driving along, minding their own business, was T-boned by someone who went through a giveway sign, and then had all sorts of dramas due to an un-engineered modification on their car.

This was despite them being in the right and having no blame apportioned to them in the accident.

Yeah I understand that some accidents are out of my hands, but if you read a couple of posts back there's a giggle next to my comments. Hence the lightness of the comments.

A high percentage of modified cars on the road have illegal parts, or they're not engineered at all! This doesn't make it right, but no need to get all defensive about it on a forum.

Anyway, all this about this has nothing to do with installing coils in a 1600.

Righto..... I want a set of rear coilovers....

I want to be able to adjust ride height. I already have some Techno Toy Tuning stuff, so was just thinking about staying with them.

My 1600 is not going to be some serious track car, but may see the track. It will also see the drag strip, but again, wont be chasing trying to get the times as low as I can!!

I started to read spring rates for the coil overs.... now where do I stand with what I want???

I will email Techno Toy Tuning..... must have coilovers in the rear!!!

Cheers

^ I would prefer the techtoytuning tuning coils, simply because of the external adjuster.

However baz reakons the camaro shocks in these coils are not suited to a 1600, as the rebound is not suitable.

Gab from techtoytuning is pretty helpful in replying to emails, give him a shout.

So the Techno Toy Tuning rear coilovers are not suited... suited for what though? I dont want a full on track car nor a drag car... so these camaro shocks no good for everyday use, and maybe a couple times on the track or drag strip???

I checked out my front coilovers, I am running 250lb on front!! Looking at going the same for the rear.

Cheers

Have a read of the suspension section of the 510 realm
A few ppl using rear coilovers. I would run 225 all round
with good quality shocks for the street

Well I ent and bought the Techno Toy Tuning anyway...

It really is a street car so I dont think I will be using these to their potential. After talking to them there, for my motor car combo 200lb in the rear.

Cheers

Looking forward to hearing what they're like. I've also got 250lb up front, and are contemplating the same rears. How long till your car is done?
