hello all

this will soon be my daily driver after i fix it up, pass roadworthy and what not.

its a 1974 180b sss. i got it from someone in Queensland who emailed me saying

"I have a 1974 datsun 180b sss for sale in fair condition. i am situated in Queensland any questions please contact me."

so i made him an offer, with out my parentals knowing and there we go, 2 weeks later its in my garage. my parents noticed this and it didn't go down too well. the waned me to get a newer car, with air bags, abs brakes etc etc. oh, and one that didn't need work, like this one.

here's one of the pictures that the seller sent me. i havent had a chance to take my own yet but i will soon and get some up.

(dont worry, i get the guy to put the bumper back on)

right now all that's stopping it from starting is the distributor, but i'm going to the wreckers tomorrow to get a bluebird one that i've been told fits right on.

it needs a fair bit of work, but it will be great once its all done.

Who needs airbags and abs?
Usually seatbelts do the trick!

Besides, there aren't many new cars that looks as cool as this!

yeah, it is quite straight with minor rust. it does have paint chips all over the body which you cant see on the photo but thats just an excuse to ge it resprayed. (not sure if i'll be leaving it yellow yet)

plans, to keep it as original as possible, inside and out and make it my daily drive.

What do parents know about cars? Nothing, that's what. <end rant>

Datto's are win, end of story.

That car is awesome, I would totally have one. Congrats on the buy.

Yeah exactly. My mum tried very hard to force me to sell my 200B and buy a VK wagon, which I think is the ultimate bogan car. But I won in the end and am so much the better for it! They know nothing...and, as per our discussion today, thae chances of you being in a crash where a new car saves you and this one won't are faily minimal.

180B SSS... nice choice.

I'm with your folks on this though... don't drive a classic straight away.
Why do you think green200b's mum wanted him to drive a shitty Commonwhore... have you seen the amount of dents in his green machine :giggle:

but seriously, nice ride. Look after it.

Oi! Firstly, most of those dents were extras when I purchased the car! And secondly, she wanted me to get the Commonwhore so that she could then be one step closer to sleeping with her friend who had it!

But make sure you take good care of it. It is inevitable you will prang it somehow so leave the respray for a year or so.

That's not too bad.... My car has rust worse than that, specially under the bumpers... It's fixable though...
