Yep, Historic group O Datsun Sports 2000 is in.
40 years a racing car, still going strong.

So you got your fuel problems fixed then? What was the trouble?

What's this panel damage?

not sure what the problem was yet, will find out in the morning when i collect the car.

panel damage to rear quarter due to outbraking myself into the dip on the clubman circuit and getting rubbed by a big slick off a sports sedan.

hoping to fix it up tomorrow when i get the car back.

Nasty. Looks like she's seen a few wheels/barriers/earth banks in her time. Still it's an easy fix & she'll be back banging door handles in no time.

yeah that rear quarter had already had a big hit at some stage and a major rust repair.

welded up all of the cracks this arvo
had to weld in a small section at the bottom of the guard to get the curve right.
did most of the filler work as well, just got to make it neat now.

the engine miss turned out to be a coil so its all good now :)
looking forward to the next few events

hey guys, yous all done good up the hill last weekend,i live 3 streets away and came and watched on the saturday.

i took pics of all your cars and ill try post them up when i get them onto the computer.ive wanted a 1600 for a while now,i drive a mitsubishi legnum and tomoro i finally pick up an old 1600,its got a lot of panel rust but the chassis and engine bay are fine, theres not a single part missing and it was used as a hillclimb car about 5 years ago,it has the factory motor with aftermarket carbys and possibly a couple other mods, fibre glass bonnet and guards and a stripped interior.so now ive got a project car to work on for a while with all my mates, other than the legnum of course.

being 19 im on quite a budget, though i know a lot of panel beaters and spray painters who can help me out along the way,
so hopefully if i dont get lazy, ill be able to enter next year in a fully restored pristine 1600
