Hahaha, aesthetically yes - the 2+2's doesn't look quite as balanced, but the longer wheelbase works better on the track
I'll be back on the track once it's rego'd & the brakes/suspension done.

The olds live out past Warragul (in Vic) on a few acres - we just cleared a bit of scrub, a
few tree's & knocked a shed up!

BTW, the PS door is finished!

Any tips / tricks / suggestions to doing the door skins ?

I've got a few new 1600 skins (and plenty of rusty doors), just never got around to doing it.

I guess you just grind down the edge of the existing skin, take it off and carefully fold the edge of the new skin over the old door shell ?

Lurch,

Alfa fibreglass are apparently gunna be making S30 doors in the next few months.
Maybe worth considering for stage 2?

Dave

Pretty much as you described Dave.
Just take care not to stretch the lip of the new skin as you peen it over - otherwise it'll wrinkle.

Helix, how'd you hear about that from the other side of the Pacific?
I didn't know they were going to be making them...
Looking at the classes of racing here atm, I doubt weather I'll be competitive for the money I want to spend.
I might just build it up as a fast road car & use it for the occasional track day.
(BTW I called Brent the other day. I could ship it to NZ & race in GT2 for half the cost of racing here & be fairly competitive. Hrmmm...).

Stony, they are heavyish, but not unreasonably so.

I use to live in warragul, off stoddarts road. Im not the biggest fan of gold either, but at least its not very common and as long as the car is straight you can make most colours look good. rear spoiler looks good.

Have heard that the 2+2 may be eligible for IPRA. Which is a very competitive series but thats the usual for anything which is national, can't understand why more Zeds are not run at a higher level.

Is it because most Datsun owners are tightarses and won't spend whats required to be competitive?

While I was waiting for the old man to finish with the angle grinder,
I decided to remove the door catch - it turned into a right PITA...

The plate behind in the door catch was fairly fooked...
I found that there was no thread left in the top hole & there was a seized bolt which I had to drill out.
So I decided to remove the plate to fix it properly...
Two spot welds drilled out & the plate fell out the bottom (where the sill is open atm where I'm repairing it).
So I welded up the holes & redrilled/tapped 6mmx1.0 them.
