I reckon that's the most you've said for a long time. Usually it's just some little smiley or something. So I'm going to jump on the bandwagon and say....
Lurch... You need an RB30 bottom end, with an RB25 or RB26 top end and triple SU's

I didn't think Lurch would like hearing that

At the 'Nats I saw an R32 with a nicely worked RB. And it sounds f**king insane! So I can think of worse engine combos.

If its going on the track a SR20DET would be my choice. Less weight up front and the engine will sit well behind the front wheel.I have seen it done a few times. Do it do it....

If I wanted LESS torque Brad I'd fit a whipper-snipper motor

Eventual plan is RB25/30 hybrid...

They end up with -soo- much room up the front of the bay. No more difficult figuring out how to route cooler piping etc!

You worry me sometimes Nik

I bought a 260Z gearbox off evilBay in Newcastle & 'Dave' was kind enough pick it up, box it up & ship it down to me :o
I'm indebted to you mate!
I apprently requires a rebuild so I will be doing that in the coming months.

I also picked up a full set of these.
Front spring rate is 320lbs & rear is 280lbs - should be firm enough with re-oiled OEM wet legs...

How hard is re-building a gearbox Lurch? I got quotes on my 240K gearbox today and didn't like the sound of it.

Yeah it know but a SR will still rape any L series and will run reliably with fairly big power and the weight you will save adds a big bonus for any car on the track. A RB30DET would own though have see a few produce very good numbers. The last R32 I had a ride in had one and produced 360kw at the wheels. **** me it flew

Fairly straight forward Al.
I'll be running a workshop day (for invited people) in a few months where I'll be rebuilding it.
The big cost with them is actually the syncro rings. Bearing kits are cheap enough.
