Hi All,

Can anyone help. I'm putting the R200 rear end together and one of the shafts is longer than the other. Which one goes in the drivers/passenger side?

I hope you can see in the pic the one on the right is about 10mm longer.

Also there is a flat part on the smooth part of the shaft (both of them) does that have any special meaning?

Cheers,

Trent

im not sure, but my geuss would be the long one in the left becaus the diff bulges out that way. also, make sure you modifie left hand drive shaft so that it compresses in further, i remember i learnt the hard , when the lhs spring & controll arm compresses, so do the drive shaft, and with the r200 being wider, it sort of hits and makes a bang/grinding sound.

haha, thanks mate appreciate the offer! don't go to to much trouble. I search just couldn't find anything about it. i brought the R200 separate to the shafts so I didn't take it apart in the first place...

"Short flange LH

Long flange RH

The ring gear is located towards the left side and this is where the splines on the shorter LH flange engage. The longer RH one has to pass across the pinion engagement position into the RH side of the ring gear carrier"

I brought them from Wolf Creek Racing. They sent them over with the shafts. About $150 from memory.

I have been told that long and short sides are different depending on the diff ratio.
ie. 3.9 is the opposite way around to 4.375.
I think it was maybe trent?? at SWR who told me this...
So you may wanna double check.

That's right it all depends on the ratio. I had to figure this out today and had SWR run me through how it all works.

You can actually have many different combinations depending on the ratio from long stub long shaft on the right and short stub short shaft on the left for the lower ratios. To long stub long shaft on the left and short stub short shaft on the right for the higher ratios. And in between you can have long stub short shaft and short stub long shaft. Its actually really confusing.

But for you sake as I have 3.9's also, the long stub and long shaft is on the right (drivers side) and the short stub and short shaft is on the left (passenger side).

hope that helps
