Can anyone help out with some Dellorto jetting/ setup advice?

Motor Specs:
A15
Twin Dellorto DHLA40H Carbs
JTS "GX" Manifold
Ported, Shaved H89 Oval Port Head
Bigger valves, Competition Double Springs
JTS 4-2-1 Extractors
ARP Head Studs
O-Ringed, Decked Block Copper Head Gasket (Approx 10.2:1 Comp)
Flycut +1mm Pistons
Wade 140 Grind Camshaft (4000- 7000RPM)

Current jetting:
Idle:55
Main: 115
Emulsion Tubes: 7772.6

She idles ok, and is ok off idle up to 1/4 throttle, any more than that she just starts popping and doesn't want to know.

Found dead spiders and wasps in the carbs (no joke!), all removed & cleaned up.

I think the mains are way too small, going to try my brother in laws 7772.8 emulsion tubes and 145 main jets.

I realise its like ringing the doctor up on the phone and saying I feel sick and expecting him to know exactly whats wrong without even looking , but does anyone have a ball park size on the jets for me?

Also does anyone know if you can get A series pushrods in different lengths- need some slightly longer...

Cheers!

Matt

Change the main jets first, as this sounds like a problem going from the idle circuit to the main. Are you sure you got everything out of there, maybe the main circuit is blocked? 145's is probably a bit big for a perfect tune, but it might show you that the main jets are whats holding it back. As for other jets, were abouts in NSW are you? In Sydney there's Carby Services at Burwood, Penrith Carby & EFI if you're out that way, or the guys at Girraween who for the life of me I cant remember their name, but they're on Amax Road round the back, next to the Chicken Processing plant. I think Fabre Australia at Punchbowl are the agents for Dellorto now, they have lots of carby stuff but are only open Monday to Friday.

Thanks for the info, very much appreciated!

I'll probably end up taking it to the carb service place at Burwood, been told they are thr gurus...

Tried the 145 mains tonight with 7772.8 emulsion tubes, took up off the street in 1st and I almost thought it was fixed, but once you get thr revs wound up and or up past 3/4 throttle she didn;t want to know and it was quite worse in 2nd gear.

Brought her home, tried the 145 mains with the 7772.6 emulsion tubes and it went much wors so switched back to the 7772.8's.

Overall though much better than the 115's with the 7772.6's thats for sure!

Pulld the plugs at the end of the fun, no: 2,3,4 were fairly black and sooty, though not wet or anything nastly like that. no: 1 was a browny sort of colour, so I think the crap has found its way deep into the carbs somewhere and is blocking things off nicely!

Does anyone know if you can get slightly longer pushrods? with mycurrent setup the clearance adjusters only have about 2.5 threadspoking out for the locknut to grab onto.

If not I think i'll have to get the rocker gear pedastle (?Spelling!) machined down 2mm or so to give the locknuts a bit more thread to grab onto...

It will get there!

Cheers

Matt

Small Update:

Front end is almost finished now, all rebuilt with new bushes and balljoints. S13 brakes are in and work great, next is to pull the struts back out and convert them to coilover, shorten them for my Mk1 Golf inserts and install camber tops and LCA bump steer correctors.

Celica 5 speed is in with a 190mm Exedy/ Xtreme clutch, and ute diff is in with JTS leafs and Pedders Gemini shocks, its starting to handle nicely now!

Got some Watanabes for it and restored them, spent way too much time polishing them up!

Pics below are courtesy of a few of the usual Sydney datto suspects, taken from the first Datto Day a few weeks back (an awesome day 100+ Dattos for a first event!!) and also the SDC Bathurst run/ Christmas party. We got a little bit of rain/ water on the way...!
