Yep was a top weekend. It seemed everyone whom entered got to learn something new about the track and their cars. I had a ball and was good to see a good turn out of Ozdaters attend the event. I have a heap of video from the day and will spend some time editing it and making a clip you put on youtube.

Massive  for Dave Wilson coming all that way. You seemed to have a ball mate. Also thanks to the guys whom helped me out in the pits.

Just a quick reminder there are a few guys that did not fix me up for the accom. Can you please send me a PM and i'll send through my banking details. Thanks to Dave (peterpants down for reminding me) :D

Top weekend guys havnt had that much fun in a long time.Thank's to brad for looking after the acomodation even with the stove heater worked a treat ha ha. I was pretty happy with the way the y went only had one small electrical problem that was easily fixed now just gota put my proportioning valve in to stop my rear brake's from locking up and sending me off the track ha ha looking looking forward to the next one hopefully there will be no bretho's this time also gota grow some balls and turn up the boost i was only running 10psi all day ha ha.Any one happen to get a pic of me coming out of a corner?

Well, was good to meet everybody and put faces to a few names

I did indeed have a ball - the trip down was good, and the trip back was great (didn't really see any other traffic till I got close to Canberra  ).

Winton was a very interesting track. Suited my car pretty well, although it took me a while to work out a few corners Thanks to Lurch for the tips beforehand, and for being silly enough to go for a few passenger laps. A bit of coaching really helps. especially when you have limited time to get used to the track - I reckon I could do another few track days there and still not have all the corners worked out. Was pretty happy with 1:52. My only regret for the weekend was that Mark got the jump on me at the start in the last supersprint, then I started getting lapped by quicker cars and couldn't catch the "B".

Just been looking at the results, one thing I noticed was that Jordan in the little 120Y was doing 2:00 flat - not bad for a first-timer on street tyres :hail:

I managed to get my datalogging working for the last two sessions, will have to have a look at it to see what I can work out. One thing that jumps out was that my top speed was only 133kph, over 30k less than Doug's top speed.

Just been showing the wife and kids a bit of the in-car footage. Don't know if I'll be allowed back out on the track again after they saw my attempt to demolish the flag point :giggle:

Thanks again guys, especially Brad for organising the accomodation, and all of you who made the trip up even though you weren't competing  .

How the hell did that blue 1600 with L16 on Webers do a 1:39.8. That's a second better than Leigh's 1:40.8 and about 3.5 seconds better than my 1:43.1. Obviously suspension setup and driver ability count for plenty but sh*t that's fast with little grunt. Over on SAU they reckon 70kW?

I spoke to Russell, and he's a good bloke. He was itching to crack a 1:39...
I had a chat to him about his car setup, and he recommended some springs (which I can order through him of course!)
I'm getting a quote!

I reckon it would have to have more power than that. My very tired old L18 running SU's and the original low-comp pistons pumps out 50kW.

Here's a quick in-car video of my only "excursion" of the day. Anyone know if you can get race-suits drycleaned :giggle:

First video - first session out, my brother Mal driving.

Second video - first session out, me driving. Brad (MYDATO), Dave and Stu (JETDAT) in the vid. Last few seconds show the small slide onto the short pit straight as captured by Nik from outside (see above).

Why would you need 48dcoe's for a 70kw l16? unless its choked down to 32

Serious money has been put into that motor.

His corner speed was fairly fast also

Hey chaps, good weekend all round. Enjoyed the drive up, enjoyed the 1970's motel experience, enjoyed the racing and enjoyed the drive home with a stuffed diff. At 100kmh you had to scream to be heard over it. Got a head ache but it still goes, drove to work on it today. Anyhow, where do you guys find out all the times etc. I didn't think I'd do that good, poor old street tyres. Was there anyone slower than me? :D It was good to meet all you guys again, I always like the old cars better than the newer ones. We should all head up to heathcote drags one weekend again. Will be putting in another diff centre next weekend, should be okay for the week. Good track the old Winton, glad I finally have been on the track will definatly be doing it again, even if I wreck another diff centre. I gotta get some stiffer springs tho.

What kind of power do you guys all have, I was gunning it in 3rd at 100kmh and the wrxs just flew by lol. I got 60kwatt at the wheels with the old L20B twin webbers.

yeah i'm with waz, there has to be more than 70kw in it.
Although even at the ceiling of what it could make, it is still a damn impressive drive! I doubt he used his brakes much!
Assuming lots of $$$ spent, what sort of power is possible out of 1600cc on 98RON? 85-90rwkw? :?
And does anyone know what fuel he was running?

spoke to 'yellow1600rally' about it today.

Its taken 3 blown up les collins built motors to get it where its at now. I highly doubt it is 1600cc any more . A figure of approx 15k got shot into my ear...for the engine alone
