Have been playing with the car a bit lately.

Ages ago I had told people that I had an issue with the motor sitting too far back and the intake plenum was hitting the clutch. Well, i've fixed that issue now. I made myself a new gearbox crossmember! I have a feeling that my old one was to blame and I always meant to make a new one because I was never really happy with how it looked. IT was PLENTY Strong, but it just didn't look it!

Have also started gathering parts for the CV setup. I have obtained myself some R30 companion flanges. Unfortunately, Nissan have obviously changed the bolt spacing and are too small to use S15/S14 cv cups to allow them to bolt to it.

Back to the drawing board!

I haven't been following your cv saga but have you thought of 260z / 280zx shafts. They may well suit the R30 companion flange.
Keep us updated with your solution.

280zx shafts will do it, yeah. 280zx and R30 companion flanges are the same. But I don't know where i can get them from easily. Not like the s14 and s15 ones i currently have.
I really need the outter cv from a 280zx. Then i can shorten and re-spline my s15 axles.
But now I'm thinking that an adapter will be easier. I'll keep everyone posted!

Totally off topic Ross,

I remember seeing your car at the Sydney drag way about 3 years ago, on a Sunday street meet,
I think Travis was in his yellow 1600(now matts) and Todd and his brother in both of their cars.

What time did you end up running?
Sorry if you have covered this in your thread

Cheers Tim

Haha, that would have been a while ago!

The Bulkeley boys were there too.
I ran a 13.5. I'm not really a drag guy but i was happy with that. Haven't changed the car since except i got rid of my 13 year old tyres and put some nice ones on now.

Std SR. Standard boost with 3'' exhaust. Pvc tyres and a 3.54 open diff. And whatever base map Pete leibig put on my ecu when he put the nistune board on!
I'll be a different story when i figure out how to adapt my cv flanges for the new diff.
New tyres.
I've got 550cc injectors. Bigger afm and t28bb turbo ready to go and then it'll be time for a tune!

It's a good combination. Very responsive.

T28 is on now. Made a 3.5'' dump pipe for it too when it went on (something that i want to remake). But it needs a tune to compensate for the extra size and lag the turbo has on the low end. It's definitely not as snappy off the line as it was with the t25. but it can hold around 15psi through the revs. I only run it at 11psi currently and only on special occasions.

Sounds good Ross!

Will be a nice power increase but still with awesome response!

Can't wait for the results!

Thanks Matt! Can't wait to finally install this diff too. Getting access to parts is my issue!

Ross, how are you going with the exhaust design? Have you noticed any difference with the cabin noises now you have a different turbo?

Hey Nick, I've put that on the back burner for a while but the other day i did grab myself a sheet of rockwool insulation that I'll use for packing.
New turbo has been on for a while and there has been no difference in the noise level unfortunately.

I was thinking about making a thread up about muffler design and building your own. Is relatively simple for a straight through our chambered. But I'm unsure how to calculate chambers that will cancel out particular resonant frequencies. Worth starting one?

Hell yes. I'd be interested in putting my 10cents in and getting some feedback.
Let's try and crack this egg with a few more heads!

Ok, so started a thread for the muffler. Happy for anyone's input!

Back to the drawing board with the cv's.
How to make the round peg bolt up to the square flange!

Ok, the final pieces of the puzzle have now been located.
Instead of stuffing around with adapters (i ended up not being bothered) i bought a set of MR30 axles and a set of shafts that had already been shortened.

Cost me a couple of hundred more than if I had taken my ones down to get machined but really, these are there and ready to go.

Confirmed my measurements with the shafts though.
So assembly will commence shortly.
Then fabricating the new diff mount.
Then install!
Can't wait to see what an LSD will feel like in this car, but I'm mostly lining forward to how it goes switching from a 3.54 to a 3.9 ratio!
