im a bit open minded when it comes to cars so i dont mind a bit of v8s right through to imports
but last night i was given the chance to drive an evo 9......
being 17 on p-plates, i havent driven too many cars, but this is the most intense car i have ever driven or been in.
i am really hoping that i can get my sr conversion(when i do it) to feel like that.(not all wheel drive obviously)
pretty tame then oh about 3grand rpm then the games begin. boost kicks you straight into the back of your chair shift to 2nd still on boost into 3rd ease off shift into 4th look down and im going 95 (which seems as safe as 20) all in no time or effort. oh and i was shifting around 4500 when the red line is 8000.
this is a huge change considering my daily drive is "88" corolla.
and going through a few corners faster than thought possible with no signs of loss of traction and instant sharp handling i was amazed.
i say that everyone should experience it and then people will understand why that hoon flys past you round a corner.... its just too much fun not to.
if any one else has had an experience like this let me know because im going to have to get a go in that car aswell.
all i can say is well done mitsubishi and i would love to have a go in a modified one, it would be insane.

seriously evos/wrxs are one of the most boring turbo things you can drive as far turbo 4 cyls go. I'm not trying to shoot down your personal experience and they can be brutally fast but the *problem is they do everything right. They turn in on demand, brake in a straight line and launch out of corners, dont step out. I recently took an evo 10 for a drive and I was bored in 5mins.

Like Turbovan said wait till you drive a decent turbo'd 510. There is no comparison and you will know you are alive.

*problem in that its characterless.

PS. try an M3 CSL (only 20 in Aus but these are ferrari 360 fast, maybe faster), late model falcon GT (very tail happy & good for sideways & skids), or even a mild s15 or s14.

Haha well the good thing is now you can look forward to driving other stuff that is faster/funner/scarier haha.

The problem then is that sometimes you feel that the next car HAS to be faster....my Silvia does 0-100 in 4.9 seconds...i'm resisting and leaving it alone for now, it does everything i need it to do and it drives around town better than factory so all good :). Some people get suckered into the 'must be faster' trap pretty quick though!

I rekon you could have just as much fun in an evo as you could an sr20'd 1600. Its just a different kind of fun. I used to love taking round-abouts at rediculous speeds in my folks '04 model turbo'd liberty. It would just stick to the road at any speed. A datto on the other hand would be fun on the same round-about cause you'd be sideways the whole way round it. As i said, different kind of fun.

dattos aren't MEANT to be nice - they're meant to hardcore - occasional road use only, semi rally / racing cars with stripped interiors, full cages and a pair of webers.

like you guys said there are many funner cars but they have had big dollars put into them (usually)
this car was stock all that was changed was the tyres to some good ones.
it was the 6speed variant meaning it also came with bilstiens all round and the enkei rims
i found it enlightening because you see people modify them so you expect it not to be that quick as standard.
i think ill have to have a go in a skyline soon and wouldnt mind a go (or ride) in a nuts datto
i agree with riley there are different levels of fun and having not driven many cars i found this very fun.
maybe for some of you guys with alot of driving experiences not so much but really im impressed by the stock fact.

If you really want to experience sheer acceleration & corner speed, drive an open wheeler...
