This was a post on the Vic rally egroup last week. If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated. At this stage there is about 80 cars competing between the two events.

Firstly THANKYOU to those of you who have already committed to helping out
at the Derrick, unfortunately we still need more officials to make your time
worth while.

Unless another 52 officials are found, the two longest stages of the 2009
George Derrick will be lost, with potential for more stages to be cut.

I’ve been trying to call as many people as I can, but I’m still short the
people we NEED.

If you want stages to rally on, we need to work together. With over 80
crews competing, if you all just found ONE extra person, we would have
plenty of officials, and won’t end up stressing the control officials that
will be dealing with over two hours of continuous cars. These volunteers
let you enjoy this great sport.

Plus for all officials of the event, a BBQ will be running so everyone can
enjoy a social chat & drink, before heading back home, where ever that is.

You all know when it’s on, but here it is again;

What: 2009 George Derrick Memorial Trial Rally. A round of the Victorian
Rally Championship, and the Victorian Club Rally Series.

When: 18th July, 2009

Where: Event is based from Avoca heading out around Mt Cole - around 1 ½
hours north west from Melbourne CBD.

How long for? We have a mix of stages! First meet time is from around
8am!!. Officials won’t be out for mega long hours, and can do an easy day
trip out of it. Some actually will have time to be spectators, then go to
the meet point, to do a road closure!

Who to contact: Me, James Elliott. Send an email,
<http://au.mc01g.mail.yahoo.com/mc/compo ... hoo.com.au>
elliottrally@..., or leave a message (m) 0438 277 305 (h) 03 5968
3651

I’m at our club meeting tonight (Bells Hotel South Melbourne @ 8pm), but
please leave a message if I don’t answer and I’ll return your call on
Friday/Saturday when I’m not at work, making dodgy TV...

We intend to mail out all instructions for officials on Sunday.

I like having my hair, so please give me a call with some good news for me..
I’ll continue to keep the e-group posted as the number gets smaller.

Thanks,

James Elliott

Officials Coordinator

2009 George Derrick Memorial Rally

This a great event with half the 48 car VCRS field (83 cars total with VRC inc.) being Datsuns it makes for great viewing. So if anyone wants to come and watch, help out by doing an easy roadclosure and have a great day.
I am competing in a 1600 of course. Otherwise I would be helping.

Gday Everyone. As of last night the event organisers are still looking for another 15/18 road closure people. If we don't find some more pepole they will start closing stages. If anyone is interested in a day of some terriffic Victorian Rally Championship and Victorian Club Rally Championship competition (80 plus cars) in your very own spectating spot could you please get in contact with James. All of his details are listed on the first post.

Regards and thanks.

Ok all,

The magic number of officials required to run 100% of all stages is between 15 &
18!

Thanks to those who have been looking & helping out for those magic numbers
we’re after.. It’s almost down to zero..

Better get back to calling people...

Jimbo

Official Coordinator,

09 GDMR

I'll be there tomorrow!

I'm running a road block on stage 3, I think.

We had a pretty good night. The old 1600 with a very tired L16 don't like going up those big mountains. We ended up 7th outright and first in class again. Beating many WRX's and more powerful cars in the process.

Is this one yours?

More photos to come, but most of them are pretty blurry. It was harder than I thought to get clear, close up photos. We were on a straight though.

Well done to everyone who helped out in this rally. I really wanted to lend a hand but me and the missus are in isolation due to swine flu so couldn't help out.

jrogersmotorsport> if you need a helping hand for a rally out that way or nearby again let me know and i'll be glad to help. Riley.

Next one is the Begonia Rally in 4 weeks. Will start a new thread for that one. It will be based out of Daylesford & in the Wombat Forest.

Results for the VRC.

The rain held off for most of the day, only a few showers. Thanks to all that helped out.
I'll keep you informed for the Begonia Rally based out of Ballarat in a months time.
