I've seen photos of a Rally Stanza with an LZ motor in it.

The owner said it was "too good to rally"

I'd rally it if I had that much awesomeness at my disposal. It's only going to waste if you don't.

Bare LZ head.... sounds like the one at the z shop - i think it was. That has some big bucks to spend on it to see it going again. But boy would it get some attention if someone did it, wheres the cashed up dattoholics?

I guess the question is if you did end up getting an LZ20, what would you put it in?
My preference would be in a Datsun 2000 sports coupe. But that's not really historic. It would be good to put it into something that you could compete in the targa tasmania's or something along those lines.

Dave he has the whole front chain and guide setup, pretty intricate.

I can't see that head being worth any less than $10k?

He was really quick with replies and information.
Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if the asking price was in that ballpark.

According to their website, Datrats are making / thinking of making a batch of the complete timing setup (gear drive up to the top of the block, then chain to the cams). Price on their website was around $2k for this.

Barry Bray ran / runs a Gazelle sports sedan fitted with an LZ20 turbo engine, and the old Geoff Portman bluebird rally car apparently ran a large capacity LZ back in the 80's.

The S20 (a 6 cyl) wouldn't be much easier to find or cheaper (if at all). The demand for them to use in original C10 / C110 GTR's (or to make C10 / C110 GTR replica's) forces their price right up.
I'd love to get my hands on the head and associated parts. I could then get it moulded along with any other components as needed. BIG coin, but I'd say there would be enough people around the work that would buy in to hit a break even point.

The L bangers would make a massive comeback.

It'd be pretty quick though.

I'd probably put it in a 180B SSS. The biggest question is road, race or rally?

If you had that much awesomeness you probably wouldn't own a 200B...

They came in LZ14, 16, 18, 20 and apparently a few hybrids as well. There is a PB210 140Z with a LZ14 in it in Japan.

The Question is, if faced with the reality of owning one. Truly owning one. Knowing how rare they are and impossible to get parts for if you blew it up. Would you really bwant to risk destroying it?

Be careful. You are about to be over exposed to pure awesomeness. You may go blind. PB110 GX.

i didn't go blind but i did mess my pants!

How would nissan feel if the parts were copied...

probably have to pay a bit to them to allow it - but if you did that then maybe they could give you the specs to buid one from scratchin the first place.

i think a lz twin cam in a datsun would be the ducks nuts! despite the fact you could fit an sr etc - the lz would have that nostalgic, oldschool, era relevant factor.

Looks great.
I suppose there are no chances of coming to any cruises with it, or some club sprint circuit racing (to keep it clean!)
