Heya guys as promised im doin a quick wirte up of how i converted a sr s13 strut brace to fit on my datsun 200b
do this at your own risk, this isnt the best way nor is it the strongest but its the cheapest, quickest and it works, i will be getting new end plates made up but i wont worry about it till the ca18det goes in

now with the sr one you cant run the standard air box, i have put a short pod on there for the time being, i reckon if you use a ca s13 strut brace the kink would probably clear the airbox

so we start with the brace, i paid $10 for it hence why i didnt mind hacking it up but this is why i had to, as u can see the tower brackets are to close together even with the bolts set to its lowest setting it wont go in so we need to make something smaller

i was tossing up the idea about cutting the ends and retapping the bolts that screw in but wasnt sure how much that would effect the bar, also was a bit of a waste to put on a new bar too so i went with the drill the towerplates trick

first align the bar so it is even on both sides and then add another 5 cm to where you will drill so you can tention the bar mark this

pry open the sides of the towerplate to accomidate the ends of the bar to slip into it
as you can see it wont take much to get it to sit nice

now simply drill the holes, move the bolts in the end to align with the drilled holes and put the bolts through, tighten everything up and DONE!
a modified s13 strutbrace on your datto

Not bad,

but another way to do it if you have a round strut brace is to cut it down, then re tap the thread on it and bolt it back up, also you could of grinded off the tabs that hold the bar and then made some new ones and welded them on????

just some ideas.....

yea making up new mounting points is gonna be the go once the ca goes in, but pretty much this was the solution to use it with minimal tools and time

yea i think s15 is a touch wider than s13 so you wouldnt even need to use this setup, you should be able to just screw out the end bolts OR mabes just put longer ones in alltogether, but srlsy man just buy a s15 brace you can find em for like 50 if you dont go and get a tien or whiteline one

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but how long is an S13 brace at it's shortest adjustment?

Is the S15 one shorter?
