Hi Guys, I've used the search button, but pretty much found that EVERYONE uses the 200B master cylinder as an upgrade for their 510/610....

I'm planning on putting disc brake back end on my wagon, and was wanting an appropriate upgrade of the master. Does something like an R31 master fit in? or a Pintara or something?

Any help, thanks!

You have the Girlock master cylinder fitted the Australian 200Bs.

I've recently had to ditch this item to fit the Japanese-style (I'm not sure of the name/brand) cylinder as the Girlock master fouled on the inlet manifold of my FJ20ET. This means changing the booster as well. Confirm it with Baz (he is modifying mine as we speak) but I believe he said I needed to use the rear section of a 200B booster and the front section of a Sunny booster. You can then fit the Japanese master cylinder. I will be using a 7/8ths as this will be suitable for my application.

The only small issue you will run into is that the Girlock master cylinder has a separate brake line coming out for each of the front brakes and a single line running to the rear, whereas the Japanese master cylinder only has one line for each end. You'll need an adapter to join the brake lines and a short piece of pipe, as well as new fittings on the end of everything. I decided to get brand new brake lines for the front and bought all of the necessary pieces new and it came to a cost of $110.

I'd say the Girlock item would be fine to run your brake setup, though. Remove the residual pressure valve and see how it goes.
