hey there !

Im having a problem installing my 18" wheels onto my 180b sedan
the wheels are 215/35/18"

The backs fit pretty good but the fronts are where the big problems start
Please refer to the pics below!

The struts are touching the outer edge of the tryes as you can see, and the wheels are not even close to 90 degrees!

Please could you help me with this situation
I would like to know all the ways around this issue.

All infomation is much appreciated! :hail:

Thanks

usually if its not too far off you can just chuck a few extender plate jiggerboo;s in between there and it wont be too bad... but with 18's its going to be a headfuck cos when you are cornering that shitz rubss... good luck...d

Bolt on spacers are the only solution. And then you are likely to run into issues with the tyres fouling the guards.

The best solution is to fit proper fitting wheels. I reckon you may find 18s more trouble than they are worth (and your car's going to end up looking like a rollerskate).

First of all, by the looks of it i recon you'd need at least 225 may 235's on those rims, they are are stretched due to being much to thin and will handle like bullshit... second of all, spacers will only be a temporary fix and if you don't buy decent one where the centre hole for the rims to sit on are the right size you risk breaking stud after stud, especially with 18's.

215's like that looks like the rims are 18*8
you will find that youll need perfect offest to get that to fit, probably camber tops to keep the wheels in the guards
no real easy fix, you simply got the wrong wheels

Pack the studs with washers until the tyre clears the strut.
Measure the thickness of the washers.

This will give an idea of what is needed.

Lower the car, move it back & forth.
Check if the wheels stick out the guards.
R31 struts may help.

Bit of a silly thing to do but each to their own and kudos for trying something different.

+1 with Baz which is the only propper way to do it or you can always use bolt on spacers, but make sure they're hub centric and that they're not some cheap ebay special knock offs, get some from a reputable wheel/tyre shop. I known place is JustJap; last time I looked they has plenty of 4stud spacers in various thicknesses.

Good luck mate

Alex

as everyone has said, spacers are the answer.

dont worry about the stretched tyres, it looks good and will handle fine, and wider tyres will only add to your problem  although your tyres do look a big shagged

Stretched tyres are not OK unless you plan to look at yr car only. They will indeed handle like sh*t.

why will they handle like sh*t? less sidewall flex? Sounds to me like thats a good thing.

but yeah, it's probably just a fad...

hey guys

Thanks for all the info and please keep it coming! getting some washers this weekend to see how big my spacers have to be!
I find a guy that put 215/45/17 on his 180b sss, i asked him how big his spacers were and how long were his extended studs.

anyway here some pics of the car with the wheels on !! does it look like a rollerskate? :?

oh and what the cheapest way to get 4 doors from newcastle, nsw all the way to perth?..Dont really mind how long it takes.

Thanks Guys!

can't really tell at the moment mate, it's so high off the ground you've got a bunch of positive camber, but I'm sure it'll look better when its closer to the ground though

i had 215/45 17's on the front of my car, but they were 17*7's, i think around +35 offset
i used 10mm slip on spacers with 240k struts, and no spacers with my s13 front end

you problem is not your tyres, but like i said, your wheels look like they are 8" wide
so if your car is low, you are going to need much camber to clear your guards, if your car isnt low, it will look quite silly
