Yeah so???

Just pull off the companion flange from the MR30 and bolt it to the 200B IRS...
wont have that toe issue with them since they're closer to the original design of the 1600/180b IRS.

the arms that is.....

I'm not 100% convinced of the need to weld up / strengthen the rear shock mounting tower - its already looks pretty strong (well, on the 180B anyway). Although as mentioned, probably just as easy to do it anyway while its stripped down.

I haven't had a chance to do much with the 180B lately :( . I've been giving the 1600 a bit of love instead, getting it ready for a few track events between now and Easter.

couldn't you fit the conventional R31 rear brakes? Leigh is going to fit mine onto my 180b arms. Can't see how much different 200b arms could be.

Dave,

The thing I would do with the rear of your car is if you are going the coil over setup on the rear is to reinforce the rear towers, and add a horizontal brace from tower to tower. You might as well strengthen it up now before you put the final coats of paint on!

If I go that way, I would definitely strengthen it up (regardless of whether it really needs it or not).

I'll be strengthening mine and changing to a two bolt top hat (exactly the same as an S13 etc). The 1 little bolt hole for the shock was never designed for the loading of a coil over strut.

The bolt hole just holds the bolt, you still run a top hat for the spring which spreads the load. I've raced a handful of times at various tracks and had no issues so far. The top of the towers seems to be nice and strong, already double skinned from factory. I'd be worried about all the forces of a coilover on the standard mounting point on the 1600/180b arms. The r30 arms are chunky in this area as they are designed for the job.

The r30 arms will give you way too much toe in if you don't slot the mounts or make new ones, but i figured if you're going to the hassle of making it adjustable its not that hard. Gives you extra track, somewhere in the vicinity of 20mm each side.
