Bloody awesome. That engine revs! If it was my SR20, i'd be changing about 2000rpm sooner (or maybe more!)
The lights that keep blinking are the rev warnings? They seem to reflect off the head lining?
How are you finding the suspension?

The rev limiter is set to 8800 and the shift lights are at 8500.
Quite conservative at the moment, Ill wind up the rev limiter to 9500 and shift lights to 9000 soon.

The light on the roof is the magnetic GPS, that usually sits on the outside of the car. I does the lap timing at the track and the speed on the dash.

Suspension is great. The 900 lb springs in the rear allow it to squat and grip.
I have the thickest front swaybar in it. 3.5mm wall thickness.
It turns in really well and is not too taily, except on really high speed corners >150 km/h. A little downforce on the rear would be good.
Overall it is great to drive, very forgiving.

the DS3000 pads need a fair bit of warming before they have any feel.
I was braking quite early at the rallysprint due to this.

Clean starts are hard
I the above video i launched from 8500 and it still bogged down after the initial wheelspin
I need to practice slipping the clutch a little to load up the engine before launching.

'Ken Oath!
With the GPS; is that something that you have to run when you're at the event, or is it something that you run in the car that links in with your systems? What model are you running?

The gps is just a accessory for the motec. There is no requirement to run it at the track. It didnt give me any useful info at the rallysprint so i put it on the underside of the roof where it doesnt find the satellites.
I am running the motec CDL3 club dash kit which talks to the computer using a CAN bus

A bit of an update on the car;

4th gear syncro cracked resulting in some crunching.
I sent the gearbox over to les collins racing and they rebuilt it with a few modifications

3rd and 4th gear have been changed to the porshe style steel syncros.
Apparently the brass syncros have little notches in the outside that like to start cracks in high rpm boxes.

A baffle has been made in the extension housing to prevent oil being flung of the output shaft and up through the gear stick hole. I used to have constant oil leaking out of this area.

A temp sensor bung has been welded into the case to get more accurate readings of the oil temperature. It was previously in the filler hole plug and may not have been getting correct readings.
Also after a few hard laps on the track the gearbox temp would go crazy, flicking up to 700 degrees and then down to 0. The sensor was very close to the exhaust and i thought it may have been getting affected by the radiant heat.

Gearbox is on its way back to WA and i will install in the next few weeks.

Also have to change some of the fuel lines. The speedflow efi hose does not seem like it is compatible with the fuel i am running and the hoses are starting to crack.

I am also going to try a change of master cylinders on the pedal box.
I have always had issues with the brakes in the car.
The pedal always felt really hard and it was difficult to heel and toe properly and apply a decent amount of brake pedal pressure.

At the moment i have;

7/10 master cylinder in the front with the r33 4 piston calipers and 296mm rotors

3/4 master cylinder in the rear with the r33 2 piston calipers and 296mm rotors

I think will try and go down a size on both to;

5/8 master cylinder in the front with the r33 4 piston calipers and 296mm rotors

7/10 master cylinder in the rear with the r33 2 piston calipers and 296mm rotors

Hopefully this will help the pedal feel.

I am not looking forward to changing the master cylinders under the dash. It is going to be a very fiddly job

Remind me what kind of gearbox you are running again Lampy? Got any photos of the failures?

Aside from the 700DegC, what kind of temperatures was your gearbox getting to?
I've got a temperature sensor that I will be connecting to my gearbox, but not sure what the upper temperature limit to put it at. Unfortunately it won't be in direct contact with the oil itself, so not sure at the moment. Attaching it to the outside of the gearbox housing just doesn't give me confidence of getting an accurate reading.

Im running a 71b with a holinger gearset
I dont have any photos of the broken syncro or the baffle as it was completed in Vic with les.
I have a few syncros in the shed and i will post a few photos of the spot i believe it broke.

I think i saw 120-130 degrees in the gearbox, but not sure. Will have to have a look at the motec logs
I definitely remember seeing 150 degrees in the diff, although this was the first track day in summer after the diff was rebuilt. I would expect the highest temps when the diff plates were new. We shimmed it up to 150 ft/lbs which is fairly high.
Diff temps have never got that hot again and usually sit around 110 degrees

The main thing i dont know is what a upper limit for the oil should be??
is 120 degrees ok??

Would like to get a sequential but cost is very high and it makes the car ineligible for many classes i like to run in.

Dog box would be nice with a 1.1 5th gear
