Hey all,

what does the little button on the end of the indicator stalk do? Horn? Oil slick? Revolving numberplate?

Mine does nothing, but if it is meant to be for the horn I'm interested in hooking it back up, as I might be running a different steering wheel with no horn button soon. Any tips/hints?

Passenger side ejector seat :giggle:

It's not the window washer button is it?

nah my wiper is a round pull-out knob like the "Light" one you can see to the right of the pic. You twist it to activate the washers (early dash, 69 model))

It may be something to do with the passing lights? For example, when you put the indicator on, the high beam lights go on if you have your driving lights on? Something weird like that...
There was some weird thing like that in the wiring diagrams for the japanese cars, and yours might be Aus delivered, so they kept the stalk, but removed the wiring???

Its supposed to be for a high beam flasher. But i dont see why you cant wire it up for your horn.

Yeah that's what I thought it was. Can anyone else confirm?

As for Horns... I think there is a rule to say it must be on the steering wheel?????

high beam flasher, that makes sense.

Nik, my dads XD falcon back in the day had the horn on the indicator stalk. Then again I think the location of the horn is the least of my worries if I get pulled over

Check your ADR's on your compliance plate. It might be that the esky is too old to have to comply with that ADR, if there is one. I believe you should be able to look up the numbers and find the rules that they apply to.

I bought a 200B once that had at one point in its life been defected for the horn not being on the steering wheel. It had been in the one family and apparently when the car was a few years old the horn button on the wheel stopped working so it was replaced with a switch on the dash. Twenty years later it received a defect notice as a result. I believe recently the law may have changed to allow you to have it on a separate button on the dash but I'd check this first, the guy who told me is a family friend who worships 253s and has a tendancy to change his mind about things he's said.
