My plan is to upgrade the suspension, though I can't decide yet what route to take. I always like the performance of bilstein shocks but not sure if anyone here had success fitting this shock. I'm thinking of lowering my car a bit also. I saw some threads about it and I found out that some guys are using r31 struts for the front and Kyb struts plus King springs in the rear. |

Hi all, I'm Oliver from Mansfield. Anyone use any rust converter that you can paint over when dry? In other words, no scraping, no wire brushing, etc., just convert and paint. What did you use, how did it work? Thanx |

Hi Gwenago. Welcome to Ozdat. There's a bit of information on this if you do a search. There's even procedures on how to prep panels before painting. Let us know how you go! |

Hi all, seems I'm a new datto owner. It's taken me 20 years to finally get back to dattos after being given a 180b auto in my early twenties. I've spend the last two decades working on VWs. This was the latest one... Attachment:
An original paint 56' oval that got a turbo/intercooled/efi 1600 and all the guff that goes with it for motorkhanas. Loved the car, but I just couldn't justify the $3.5k for an LSD... plus having to rip the whole powertrain out again to put it in. So it went up for sale and I started looking for something more modern. I was actually hunting for a good, low mileage, rust free 180B. Sadly, they just don't seem to exist in NSW that I could find. So, after looking at a few 1600s, I ended up with this 69' auto. Attachment:
Anyhow, nice to be part of the Datto hobby... finally. Keen to pick people's brains for various things. Can't believe how cheap the parts are! Even compared to VWs.

G'day John. Welcome to Ozdat. It's a bit quiet around here since the advent of Facebook, but there's a wealth of knowledge if you know how to find it. If you have time, check out one of the builds going on that you may be interested in: a 411 wagon: http://ozdat.com.au/forum/viewtopic.php?f=59&t=26692 |

Hi Everyone, Jake is my name and I'm based in Melbourne. We are currently doing a freshen up on a 1973 1200 Coupe. Definitely not a resto but just taking a lot of stuff that had been stuffed around with back to stock. Look forward to talking to you guys and hopefully attending some meet ups once the pandemic stuff is over with. |
