 Post subject: Steering arm mods?

Guys,

just tried to fit the R31 steering arms to the Bluebird.

Apart from a stripped/crossed threaded nut that need replacing the big issue we have is the large lump sticking out at the rack tie rod end. At full drop it will foul the tie rod = not good.

Being a forged part, will slowly cutting off the lump and making it smooth, no big scratches be ok?

I believe so, but the no welding of steering components rule reared its head... I know its not welding and we can go slowly to minimise heating. but thoughts??
