Some pics of the body work so far. Motor is sorted, but give me your opions/experiences with SSS dogleg, R30 stumpy and series 3 bluebird gearboxes. I have them all just need to decide witch one to use. The current diff is a borb warner 3.9 locker, thinking of going a vanette diff or similar with 4.1 or 4.3 gears and bluebird disc brakes. All feedback is welcome, cheers Jay

Use the bluey box & 4.875 diff if possible.
Nice colour BTW

Good to see the stanza section is coming alive.
Also enjoying the colour.
I'd go the sss box depending on your motor choice and power output.

What diff has the 4.875 gears Baz? Is that a vanette model?

Motor is L20B, made 100kW ATW last time so with a rebuild should make the same

You mentioned fitting a van diff & bluey brakes.
You are best running a H190 rear end.
So all the ratios you need are available from 520,521,620,720,230,S12, 910, E20 etc, etc.

S12 rear needs a few mods to fit correctly, tho some just bolt them in.

I also recommended the bluey box over the SSS, as the bluey has better ratios.
Apart from the fact they are cheaper to repair and once fitted, you can fit a Z box later with no changes.

So what Z box should i be looking for? Will the tail shaft need to be changed?

So the H190 is in all these models? 520,521,620,720,230,S12, 910, E20 and will bolt up except the S12?

Will the bluey disc still be ok to use?

Cheers for all the info Baz, the front end will be ordered form Datsport :hail:
Cheers Jay

None of the complete rear end assemblies will bolt straight in with the exception of the S12.
Tho as I mentioned previously, it does need some mods to get it spot on.

The H190 gear sets/ diff centers/ are in the other models to these will not always interchange.
The use of the carrier & gear sets depends on ratios, hemispheres, axle splines.

Bluey discs can be adapted to some, but not all.
Initially t'Racys Stanza will be using finned 240/260Z drums,
with air scoops & vents in the backing plates.

Tail shaft will need changing, depending on center or assy used.
Also if you use a 71 series box it will need shortening.
Any late 240Z or 260Z box can be use.
The early model 240Z can be used, but has a few hang ups.

we are also working on procuring clutch type LSD centers for H190.

OK, i've got this cam that i was told is a 76 degree cam but i don't know any specs for it. Can someone identify this cam and its specs? Its has a number stamped on one end (663) and the letter 'B' on the other end. I measured the lobes at 29.8mm and either 37.8 or 37.9mm (rounding up or down) so lift of 8-8.1mm. I'll try to upload pics soon. Cheers Jay

That's Wade's version of the Datrally M12 and it's pretty close to a works 72 grind. Pretty good cam but not big enough for a pure track motor.

There has been a dedicated race track in the works for some time now. Council and car clubs still coming to a comprimise :? So just a few go-kark tracks (shaws road, in Townsville, Makro track in Mareeba) Mt Stuart hillclimb/sprints, motorkhanas and khanacrosses.

OK, so can someone recommend a good cam for a track car? Cheers Jay
