Are they "real" wood, plastic wood, ???

What diameter are they ??

Do they have the same spline setup as other Datsuns (in particular 180B SSS / 1600 etc) ??

Looking for a factory-looking yet stylish wheel for my SSS, there's a nice-looking one on eBay.

Well, they are round and have pretty spokes and are NOT real wood.
I'm reasonably sure they have the same spline pattern as the 510, I can check for you if you want.
Keep in mind you may not be able to live with a deep dish wheel due to lack of room :?

Does fit the 1600, but IMHO the 240K is a nicer if not sportier looking wheel, look good with the rim stained black too

240z Steering wheel rims are made out of wood and plastic.

Same spline as the 240K (which is also the same wood plastic process). That one on ebay is a 240K wheel, not a Z wheel.

260Z wheels were high density foam type wheels.

Nissanman,

Thanks for the offer, but I think this

means there's probably no point.

I might give it a go anyway, its cheap-ish and the style I'm after.

For anyone interested, here's the one I'm looking at.

Thats a 240K wheel and will fit.
I know on the 510, the blinker cancel pins need to be moved.
They sand and polish up like real wood.
I've never broken or cut one up to see for sure.

Only a guess but it probably is the push and turn ACW type like the 510.
A little less embarrassing if you pull the horn fuse first

I know the 240K wheel is real wood, I get splinters from mine occasionally...

It should fit a 1600, as it fits the 200B no problems.

And you have to push the horn button all the way in and turn it to take it off. Then there are lots and lots of screws to undo.

Yep that's the 240K wheel. I've seen alot of Z's with K wheels, so it will probably fit other Datsuns. Probably why the seller listed it as a Z wheel too. Was probably on one.

They are about 15.5" in diameter (39cm)

Center cap comes off by pushing and cranking it around anti clockwise. Takes a good effort to move it, or at least mine did.

Really shouldn't be smashing these things up. Someone cracked mine trying to remove it and it's a pain in the arse.

A complete 240K wheel will fetch at least $150 on ebay if it's in good condition. I've seen them sell for more.

Yeah they vary widely in price, from $20 to $200. Depends who's bidding, and how the steering wheel is described.

Dave, did you buy it?

Yep, bought it for $60. Looked good in the photos, seemed a reasonable price (especially compared to the others I've been watching recently which went for close to $200, in hindsight I assume these would have been the correct "Z" ones).

I reckon its quite an attractive, "period" looking wheel. I don't want to go too small in diameter as I'm using shorter steering arms to quicken up the steering so a bit of extra leverage on the steering wheel may counteract any heaviness the shorter steering arms introduce.
