Just a few questions about putting rear brakes on a 180b. Must fit under 15 inch wheels (MR30 skyline) What disc do you use, i was thinking evo 6 as that's what we use on the front. Ive seen a few people use a r32 rear disc, does anyone have a template for this? would like to keep it bolt on. cheers. |

hi we already have r31 brakes, they are crap the last event we did the caliper jammed and we were using pads in 30km so were looking at other solutions and we have some r32 brakes at home. |

I don't mean to be rude, but maybe the excessive pad wear is down to the pads you a using and not the brakes themselves. |

the calipers had worked fine for 4 years, they just required high maintenance and we are looking for better rear brakes. in the case of the pads wearing in 30km it was due to the caliper been jammed on. sorry but i am NOT interested in using the R31 brakes and would like to use the R32 brakes. |

My mate has them fitted on his ipra 1600. He uses a falcon rotor (unsure of dimensions as was already fitted to car), and z32 2 spot rears (same as skyline ones). To mount the caliper, it uses an r31 caliper mount, then another dog ear mount bolted to that. The R32 callipers have no inbuilt handbrake and as far as I'm aware there's not a disc that will fit that will still give you the option of an internal drum handbrake. Fine for a racecar, not so good for a road car. There's an early Toyota Corona disc that will fit and gives a nice offset. Stud pattern the same as Datsun, just need to machine out the centre spigot. Only drama being slipping the disc over loses pretty much all of the spigot diameter for the wheels. |

R32 2 pot calipers bolt straight to the R31 Vented (internal handbrake) rear arms the R31 rear arms will bolt up to the Datsun cross-member but you will end up with heaps of toe in. This then opens up more problems with half shaft lengths for diffs etc no rear spring perches (change to coil overs). But what im saying is if your keen to do a complete rear end upgrade then you could go down that path, Prob not what your after though. |

pics and info on these? it may seem like I'm a being a drop kick but I'm not paying for about 2 days of trial and error by a rally car building expert before he could work out how to do it correctly then pay for the actual conversion just to give it away for free. I'm picking up the final product next week-end and will talk to the builder about how much this really costs and how much info can be given out. He may be able to make it a regular swap or because of the time and engineering crap he may never want to do another The swap is onto a standard skyline IRS I was going to fit the whole hr31 trailing arms but because of the differences in the arms it upsets the geometry of the rear end |

These are some photos i took one afternoon when i was board and had nothing else to do so i bolted some parts together, 160J cross member R200 CLSD HR31 Stock R200 half shafts (a bit to squashed up might work but prob would need shorting) Z31 5 Stud hubs HR31 Vented discs (have internal drum handbrake) (re-drilled to suit 5 stud). R32 Twin pot rear brakes. I later found some random brake lines at a local store i have no idea what they are from but they fit Everything bolts straight together only custom work was redrilling brake discs i did this with a battery drill (i don't ever plan on using them will buy new discs).
