Hey guys,

Wondering if anyone who is knowldegeable on brakes / suspension setups can tell me why my 200B SSS would be shuddering pretty violently when under hard brakes.

Feel like the front wheels are alternately gripping and slipping in quick succession

The tyres on the car are 205/65 on 15 inch skyline rims

Is it simple like wheel alignment?? Or are the tyre profiles all wrong for the 200b setup???

I have NFI about brakes / suspension!!!!

Cheers, Jon

Sounds like you have heat spots on the rotors, if so you can get them machined or replace them both.

the only other thing could be that they're warpped but you would get a pulsating brake pedal as the piston moves back and forwards the the warpped section pushes the piston back into its housing.

Cheers mate, I reckon ur on the money as the pedal feels normal.

Oh well prob 30 year old rotors anyway and they only have to last a few months more while the 120Y gets an L banger!!!

Hmmm well after more driving it seems this shudder can also be generated by bumpy roads or a dip in the corner as well as hard braking.

I think it may be worn steering components. Time for Nolathane throughout me thinks. That was one of the best things I ever did for my 120Y so hopefully it will make the 200B behave as well.

If you can grab the tyre on the front wheel at 9 and 3 o'clock and there is movement when twisting it left/right you may just have worn steering balljoints i.e. tierod ends...
This will cause a shudder of the wheel when braking etc if worn enough.
