'morning datheads,
First time poster; forum ghoster. Please feel free to correct me if I unknowingly neglect any of the forum etiquette...
So I'm restoring a 260c coupe... lots of rust, welding fun etc... anyways I was doing some gravedigging recently - pulling parts from a rusted out skeleton in a paddock - and the owner says he has a 280c 430 nearby and that the rear suspension and diff is usable as an upgrade for the 330.
I went for a walk and had a quick peak and sure enough it looked pretty possible... the undercarriage looks very similar if identical to the 330 and the rear shocks would be a nice replacement for the 330 leaf springs.

has anyone heard of this upgrade or done it? I'm looking for info/suggestions/anything helpful :)

Cheers :)
-pete

Sorry for the lack of info btw.

I like the comment from the dude wanting you to chuck a V8 donk in there........HaHa.....he has no idea of what's involved obviously.

But, if anyone can do it, I'd say you have youthful enthusiasm on your side........

And as far as modifying the rear suspension, why not? I'm not convinced that there's much to be gained by doing it though....Daves old 260c 230 series used to handle very nicely even with the dinosaur suspension. He just had a good balance of tyre/rim spring and shocks and ride height with a good wheel alignment. Nothing fancy but certainly effective!

Your call buddy.

Hey... don't dis youthful enthusiasm... look where its gotten me! :P
it would certainly be cool if you could swap the front members for a vg30 bolt-in from the 300c...?
Anyway, my point was if the rear suspension upgrade is a bolt-on upgrade then for me is become a "why not". As you know I've put a lot of work into this thing and some cushion wouldnt go astray... what are the rear brakes and diff like on the 430? do they have rear disks?? if they're any better it certainly looks more attractive too :)

mark I'm sure you've some knowledge of the potential for a 430 brake transplant... you are the authority in this thread :P :hail:

Yeah John's work is awesome - I'm really envious. I've spoken to john about this before and he suggests using a hilux diff... I may go this route eventually but its too much fab work for right now. I was hoping to investigate a bolt-on using the existing mounts and had heard some good things about 430/y30 parts. Hoping to investigate this properly :(
