This thread is petty. I motion that moderators kill it.

The moderators allowed it to let the 200B owners vent their frustrations at Zed, 1600 and any other datsun they think doesn't stack up against the 'holy' 200B. It's a bit of a joke at the same time.

I think that is the first sensible post in this thread. I could sit here for a few hours and type responses to everything posted, but you know what? I think I'd be better off wasting my time doing something productive.

At the end of the day, an argument based on peoples' opinions is never going to have a resolution, mainly because there is no right or wrong answer. Coming from what is supposed to be a Datsun enthusiasts forum, I think that 'petty' is the best way to describe this thread.

From what I can tell, bagging a 200B based on personal preference is perfectly acceptable, but arguments against this based on facts and even allegedly throwing it back at those doing the bagging is not. I've been a Datsun owner for a third of my life now and reading this sucks.

For those of you who are 'real' Datsun enthusiasts and are into 'real' Datsuns, here's a good one for you to discuss: which is a better car, a 240Z or a 1600? It's no stupider than the existing thread, so discuss!

Alistair, the question wasn't whether a 200B is better than a 1600 or not. We all know the answer to that anyway.... :P
The nest of ants your friend refers to as '1600 elitists' was pretty much trodden on and they decided to vent their frustrations. I decided as one of the 'elitists', to let them. Don't cut up rough because you have been bitten....

Personally I don't give two $hits what car you drive or what you think of my car. I hope you are the same.

I'm going to make a very huge statement, and everyone can sling rocks at me if they want.

It's not the car. It's what you have done and how you have done it in my books.

So I guess Brad, Leigh, Anth, Waz and Dan, and even Alistair (well sort of because you haven't finished it yet!) have my respect. The same thing goes for anyone else. The reverse is always true. Anyone that owns a 'granny spec' that is unmolested has my respect too. Even a 200B. :D

The great thing about the interwebs is this: Who gives two $hits what I think!

Haha thanks. I really like what you've done with your car Nik, sure I would have done some things a differently but it's still really cool. The same with Brad's, probably my favourite 1600 out there.

So what you're saying is that thread was aimed at people venting against myself and James May? Isn't that what PMing is for? I thought abusive posts were forbidden :P

So you even respect 200Bs then? I have a 200B SX here that used to be FJed and was once considered a car you shouldn't try and take at the lights. It has a 'custom' diff that is so badly engineered I might have to post some pictures up. Do you like the sound of that?

Abusive posts aren't really kosher and usually I don't condone them, but on this thread it's kind of a free for all. I kind of got the idea that most of us were pretty much having a go jokingly anyway. Depends on if you or anyone else make it personal, then the ants come out and bite. Most people couldn't care if you own a 200B or not. After all it's your bloody car.

The only 200B would be the SSS Coupe. But who cares what I think?
I respect your decision to own a 200B. I don't respect being called an Elitist though.

Isn't that the whole idea of the interweb in general and forums in particular though ? Being an instant expert on everything without any experience or even much knowledge of a subject ?
