I've never heard of Seafoam before and just read the instructions on this guys site. http://www.derek.com.au/seafoammotortreatment.html Did you follow this method? It seems pretty extreme. Cheers Mick |

During my years with Nissan we tested many additive products. Most all were detrimental to the engines in the long term. Water injection is the best additive I have ever used. Not only improves performance & economy it keeps the internals sparkling clean. Is like continually steam cleaning the combustion chambers, valves, pistons & rings, So the ring sealing keeps combustion by products from contaminating the oil, CVS, etc. |

Baz, Keen to understand the pump setup etc. I have found bubbles in the paint!!! nooooooo ahhhh What do I do? I finished the heat shield, works really well and doesn't look too out of place. Taken it for a really good run with no issues of the plastic getting too hot etc. |

Are you going to cover the top of the filter also? Or just leave the bonnet to close it up? I've seen guy's do similar and run some pinchweld with a rubber seal to finish it up and use the bonnet as the lid! Oh no! Where are the paint bubbles? That's got to be annoying. Mine has one 5c size piece on the door on the rear that i can't be bothered fixing. It hasn't grown in a few years so I'm hoping its ok before its next respray. |

If you find bubbles, determine what could be causing it and fix it! Fairly easy to repair. I know a good painter that can paint match and he is still in Bayswater Trent... He's flat out though, so you would have to book in, but he's very good. |

Thanks guys, Nik I might take you up on those contact details. Ross they are in the engine bay and in the boot. Nothing major, I'm just a perfectionist. I'm going to keep the top of the airbox open, I have designed it so that it seals with the bonnet. It has rubber around the perimeter so it fits like a glove. |

Classic Auto Refinishing 7/51 Scoresby Rd, Bayswater VIC 3153 Ph: (03) 9720 5816 The guys name is Bruce. Tell him Nik (white 1600) sent you. He is very busy at the moment, but I think his schedule eases up a little around late June/July. He's trying to get a car completed for a show and other clients cars to complete. He is on the expensive side, but his quality is excellent. |

Hi All, I have been away so not a lot of work on the datto. I did one small thing today. I opened up the headlight bucket to ensure I get more air into my new sectioned off filter. Was surprised the difference. I must have been strangling the engine before! Cheers, Trent

Hi Trent, Long time no hear! Glad you are getting back into it again. I would've thought the amount of air going under the bonnet in the gap between the bonnet and the sheet metal flat section above the headlights would be enough. |

Hmm, Is it fully enclosed? Mine is opened underneath. I wouldn't think that it would be starving the engine too much. |

Hey Guys, It's been a while. I have been away and busy with other things. I sold the Focus RS, it was just too boring compared with the datto I was really surprised with the change to be honest, perhaps it's all in my mind I had sealed it quite tightly to the bonnet (back) however as you say there should have been enough space between the bonnet and front of the car. My next project is to rebuild the head. Nothing majorly wrong with it other than very old valve springs and you can see on the dyno power drops off at the top end very quickly with these cams. Any suggestions where to get it rebuilt? Nik, is your car sorted now? Cheers, Trent |

OH BTW, I have taken the car for a good run with that heat shield in place, no warping, melting it actually works a treat. |
