Post subject:  Good all weather road tyres

I am looking into buying a pair of new tyre for my 200B. I run 15x6 inch rims with 195/55/15's. Currently i have Sava intesa's all round, and they are crap. Only good for skiden. I use my car as a daily and allso like to got through the hills a bit. So i am after a good allround tyre.
Now i have narrowed in down to 3 tyres that are made in the size that i want, and are performance tyres. Yokohama S.drive. Maxxis I-pro(I can get these cheapish) or Toyo proxes T1R. Feedback on which one of these tyres would be best to go much appreciated. Or any others that are good. Cheers

I like the falken Fk452. I found the Toyo proxes T1R's ok in the dry but sh*t in the wet.

Cheers for the reply people. I've looked into the tyres that you all have suggested, and here is what i found.
falken Fk452- Dont come in the size that i need. But ZE912's do.
Bridgestone Adrenalin Potenza RE001. Come in 195/55
MICHELIN Pilot Sport 3. Come in 195/55, But i use to run a similar Michelin tyre's on my cedric. Gripped ok but had soft sidewalls. And they where stretch on the rims. Has any else found this with Michelin's.
Toyo R1r's and Federal RS-R are more a semi slick. And dont come in the size i need.

So it's down to Yokohama's, Falken, Bridgestone, Michelin and Maxxis. I'll get some prices on these tyre's next, that should help eliminate some. Cheers everyone.

And Advan tyres dont come in the size that i need. If they did i would have just got them, heard heaps of good thing about them. That is i was thinking the S.drives would be good.

Personally I wouldnt consider R1R or RSR semislicks, more high performance road tyres. They have good cold grip and you should still get decent milage out of them. If it was me I would be using 205/50 RS-Rs as dedicated road tyres, but thats just me (I use toyo R888 at the moment).

A semi slick will only last around 4000k's. They are way to soft for a everyday road tyre.

I think thats a bit simplistic. At treadwear 140 the RS-R is twice as hard as a lot of true semislicks and you would expect wear levels to reflect that. Toyo R1R is also 140 treadwear and my local tyre bloke got 30,000km of street/highway driving out of them on his evo.

i really wouldnt take the tread wear indicator as gospel, it is good for a rough guide.... that is all...

the treadwear rating is really only an indication of what compounds the tyre is made of.....

higher number, harder compound...

IMHO..... i wouldnt bother with semi slicks, R1R's or any other ultra high performance tyres, unless you do track work and have deep pockets...

PS i finally read the OP..... high perf. tyres are what you are after

toyo T1R arnt that good really, for an extra $10 you should be able to get a R1R......

Maxxis are cheap, because they are cheap tyres!!

Like 24TKman just said, I dont need a tyre that good. Just something better than sava's. I also got told that Potenza are expensive. So Toyo's are of the list, and so are Potenza's.

I'm thinking the Yokohama S.drive, or Federal 595 EVO. Because both say they are an good allround street tyre on there websites. What do you guys think of this?

What type of advans are they?

205/50 would give me heaps more tyre options, but i only have 6 inch rims. So i thought they would be a little to wide.

Cheers for the feedback.

I would look towards the Kumho range for all round passenger tyres

Kumho Ecsta KU21, great all weather tyre (i sell lots of these) very well priced (compared to toyo, michelin, yoko's and the 'well over the top' bridgestones)

ps 205's arnt too wide for 6" rims
