I think its better to give them the business as they offer a great product at a reasonable price!

If we can get some decent numbers then maybe a group buy might help reduce shipping costs etc.

Cheers,

Trent

shipping out of USA is mainly a 20kg box max for most couriers. what do the shafts weigh?

I could get them to my house and send them from there for $12 a pair aus wide if they are under 3kg, or $18 if under 5kg, next day.

Might only end up saving $15-25 bucks a set each.

Talked to local guy and he said no way he could reproduce them so cheap. I left my datsun r180 and the kaaz with him to play with.

I think shipping was $50 USD. Would it be bad to ask my diff engineer mate what he would charge to copy them in low volumes? he has all the gear to do them, but labour might make them $$, plus I dont know if they are patented...?
250 each is pretty dam good, there is ALOT of work in them.
its almost 1-1 with the aud/usd, Seems alot of time spent for little savings. If any.

I emailed him and I'm on the list, also said a few of you guys will be emailing him.
I agree there is alot of work. They are a work of art when you have them in your hand. There are quite a few steps involded. Time is expensive these days. They are also spun down from a solid bar of 4340 steel which would not be real cheap either.

So you use the original crownwheel and pinion?

Yep original crown and pinion. They must be the later K series 115mm type though. :D

yep everything is original datsun (115mm) bar the LSD unit and output shafts. A small amount of machining was required to fit the LSD+crownwheel into the housing, but I imagine it could be done with a dremel/file.

Yep same datsun r180 thats been in the car the last year. Centre is DBF2040? (I think) KAAZ 1.5way from cjmotor on ebay. Using beta output shafts.

I've noticed that the output shafts can be wiggled a bit once fitted into the diff... I'm hoping this is just because they are only held by a circlip rather than being bolted in?
